         "Our world, our city: be green!"

There are lots of environmental problems nowdays in our city, mainly because of the pollution. It is a contamination of air, water and land by waste, chemicals, smoke and other harmful substances.

Sometimes there is smoke in the air. The emission of smokes from factories and cars are big causes of air pollution which produce acid rain, smog and a hole in the ozone layer. 

Sometimes the water is dirty. Millions tons of litter being thrown into the Baltic sea and Dange river every year.

There is land and beach pollution in our city. Sometimes we can see waste like plastic bags, nets, or cigarette filters thrown to beach. This waste harms sea creatures and effects the marine environment. 

Sometimes we can see litter when we go for a walk. Plastics and dirt is disposed on the ground and makes the land dirty. It is often caused by irresposible people littering and leaving their waste behind after a picnic or get together.   

As pupils we can do our part to help the environment. 

We can work together to make our land better from tall green trees to clear blue waters!

In March, a project team learned topics such as environment, consumption, waste management, climate change, the three Rs – reduce, reuse and recycle.

In April, we we started to walk in the parks, to enjoy nature's beauty. Many teachers and pupils from our school did a community cleanup by picking up trash in the different places of the city.

The Earth day we celebrated with songs, pictures and posters. Primary class pupils were encouraged to make a Land art in the school backyard.
