George was a very popular giraffe in the forest. He was the tallest one out of all the animals! All the other animals were jealous because the best food came from the top of the trees. The green trees were filled with fresh and flavorful fruits and vegetables at the top.

But, the other animals still had lots of other food to pick from the rich, tranquil forest. However, one day, all the food from the floor of the forest had disappeared! The forest cried in agony with no food to give to the animals. Everyone was starving and some of them decided to go to George for guidance.

"George!" yelled Ray, the caterpillar, "Please help us! All the food has disappeared from the ground! Please get us some food from the top of the trees we're so hungry we could eat a horse!" "Why would I help you?" asked George, "You guys never helped me when I was bullied for being short as a child!" George was often called "a fake giraffe" in his young ages because of how short he was.

Although he had grown into the tallest giraffe, George was still sad that no one stuck up for him. "I finally have something to myself! You guys will have to figure this out on your own, I refuse to help you." And so the animals went on the long journey back to tell the others how they would have to live off of scraps of food that were left on the ground.

"This can not be true!" Screamed Sydnee, George's mother, as the others told her about her son's refusal to give them food. "Has he forgotten about me? I did not raise him to be so greedy! Perhaps he is so focused on himself and has finally forgotten about me. I knew this day would come." The rest of the animals sat in silence and wondered how they were going to stay alive for the next few days.

As the days got longer, the animals got hungrier. Most of them were still in good health but George's mom had gotten sicker. She was as sick as a dog and did not have much time left to live.
