There once was a girl named Rosa Parks. She was a very courageous, caring person who had a good integrity.

Rosa was born on February 4th, 1913 in Alabama. She lived with her mother, her brother Sylvester and her grandparents
Because of how she was treated, Rosa started to take on big roles in many different groups to help show others that they did not like how they were being treated.
The school that Rosa attended had very small classrooms. Those classrooms had children that were separated by the color of their skin.

In 1924, Rosa decided that she was going to move to Montgomery Alabama for school.
When Rosa was older, she decided to leave school because she had to take care of her mother and her grandmother.

Also in Montgomery, Alabama she meet her soon to be husband Raymond Parks.

They later got married in Rosa's mother's home on December 18, 1932
Rosa parks was getting very frustrated of how black and white people were always being treated differently.
She worked with her husband and later worked with another man named Martian Luther King Jr., who you should learn about later.
They worked together to show the world that black and white people should be treated equally and not different
Together they gathered people where they listened to Rosa give speeches on why blacks being treated differently than whites is wrong.
When people listened to her speak, they could hear the passion in her voice, they could hear that she is showing there needs to be a change.
They could hear how much strength this one woman had just by the sound of her voice. People realized what was happening was wrong and started to want a change.
One day, Rosa decided that she wanted to ride on the public bus. Just like her classroom back from when she was in school, black people were told that they needed to sit in the back and whites were to sit in the front.
The same people who were told they would have to sit in the back were also told that they would have to stand and give their seats to other people if the bus was full.
On December 1, 1955 Rosa along with 3 other people were asked to give their seats up to whites because the bus was full.
Mrs. Parks did not want to move because she knew what she was being told was wrong. She decided that she was not going to move and stay in her seat.
Because she decided not to move, the bus driver had to call the police because that was against the law back in 1955.
