Jane and her family had just moved to town. Her family was small, as it was just her, her mother Sara, and her father John. They had decided to move to Iowa to be closer to family. Their old home was in Dallas, Texas, and their new home was in Janeholm, Iowa. Jane was in second grade and knew no one at the new school she was going to. Her parents, John and Sara, enrolled her into Costen High, which was the nearest school to them.

Jane was going to start school the next day. She was very nervous, but also excited to meet new people. Jane did miss her friends though, which made her very sad. It was time for bed, so she took a shower and packed her bag.
Her parents came into her room and both said, "Goodnight!"
Jane replied, "Goodnight," and then closed her eyes.

"Beep, beep, beep," rang the alarm clock. Jane looked over and the clock read 7:00 AM. She then hit the off button and got up. Her parents had already made her breakfast so she went into the kitchen to eat.
“Good morning," Sara shouted, how did you sleep?”
Jane answered, “I slept well!”
“That’s good to hear," Sara replied, "are you excited about school?”
“Not really," replied Jane, "what if I don’t make any friends?”
Her father suggested, “I’m sure you will.”
Jane then finished breakfast and got herself ready.

Sara drove Jane to school and dropped her off at the front.
"Have a good day!, her mother exclaimed.
She then walked into the school and the principal was standing at the door for her.
The principal said, "Hello, I am Mrs. Draper. It is nice to meet you!"
Jane replied, "It is nice to meet you too!" She then took Jane around the school to show her where her classroom was.

When they got there, the teacher, Mrs. Johnson, gave her a seat next to a girl named Kelsey. She was very kind and introduced herself to Jane immediately.
"Hello! I'm Kelsey!, exclaimed Kelsey."
Jane replied quietly, "Hi, I'm Jane!"
Kelsey quietly whispered, "I can tell we are going to be great friends."
The two of them instantly became friends and that made Jane feel better about the new school.
