Flemming the frog loved to write stories. He would sit on his lily pad and write all day and night with his favorite pencil. 

After a long day of writing, Flemming would drift off to sleep and wake up to begin writing again the next day.

Little did Flemming know, this next day would be very different for him. 

Flemming woke up and went to go continue his writing, but noticed his pencil was missing! He was shocked. "Ribbit, ribbit!" he yelled as he searched for his pencil. "I can't find it anywhere, how will I write?" Flemming asked.

He ran into the kitchen where his mom and dad were eating breakfast. "Flemming, won't you join us for breakfast?" Mom frog asked. "No Mom, I MUST FIND SOMETHING, RIBBIT!" Flemming shouted. He continued to search for his pencil. 

Flemming ran outside, rummaging through bushes and the pond to find his pencil. Still, he could not find it anywhere. 

He looked for so long that it became dark. "Flemming, it's so late. Can you come join us for dinner? We have not seen you all day," Mom frog asked.

"NO Mom!" Flemming yelled. "Ribbit, I MUST find it!" he shouted again. Disappointed, Mom frog went inside to eat dinner with Dad frog.  

That night, Flemming tried to fall asleep, but could not get his pencil out of his mind. "I won't do anything until I find my pencil, because without it how will I write my stories?" Flemming thought to himself. 

For days and days Flemming looked for his pencil. He searched the entire house, every lily pad outside, and the pond. Still, he could not find his pencil. 

After Flemming's fifth day of searching, Mom frog came outside and saw him still looking. "It's Dad frog's birthday, can you come inside and celebrate with us tonight? We have not seen you all week," Mom frog said. Ignoring her, Flemming pouted and sat on a log. Mom frog went inside.
