Oceanic dolphins
First, I am going to tell you about oceanic dolphins. Oceanic dolphins are dolphins that stays in oceans, but some don't end with dolphin, they end with whale. Let's
get started.

La Plata dolphin
Weight: 50 kg (110 lb)
Length: 1.8 m (5.9 ft)
Fun fact: The la plata dolphin is known for
its extremely long beak which is believed
to be the largest of any known dolphin species.

Long-beaked common dolphin
Weight: 80 - 150 kg (180 - 330 lb)
Length: 2.5 m (8.2 ft)
Fun fact: These dolphins are extremely social and playful, and are often spotted performing acrobatic stunts with other dolphins such as leaping out of the water, performing flips and bow riding.

Short-beaked common dolphin
Weight: 136 kg (299 pounds.)
Length: 2.8 m(8 ft)
Fun fact: In fact this dolphin are fairly small
when compared to many of the other
40+ known species of dolphin.

Common bottlenose dolphin
Weight: 650 kg (1,430 lb)
Length: 4 m (13.1 ft)
Fun fact: Their high level of intelligence, ability to learn and perform complex tasks combined with an outgoing nature have made them very popular among people.

Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin
Weight: 230 kg (510 lb)
Length: 2.6 m (8.5 ft)
Fun fact: The Indo-Pacific dolphin is a social dolphin species that can often be found traveling in groups of 5 – 15 dolphins; however during certain social events pod sizes may number in the hundreds.

Burrunan dolphin
Weight: 590 kg (1,310 lb)
Length: 2.78 m (9.1 ft)
Fun fact: The Burrunan dolphin gets its name from a word in the Bonwurrung, Woiwurrung and Taungurung aboriginal languages. It means simply ‘large sea fish of the porpoise kind’. Obviously, this is factually incorrect as the Burrunan dolphin, just like all dolphins, is a mammal and not a fish.
You can find them here: Waters off eastern Tasmania, and in coastal waters of South Australia in the Spencer Gulf region and west to St Francis Island.

Northern right whale dolphin
Weight: 60–100 kg (130–220 lb)
Length: 2–3 meters (6.5–10 feet)
Fun fact: At birth however these dolphins
have a creamy or grayish brown skin tone
that turns dark after about a year.

Southern right whale dolphin
Weight: 100 kg (220 lb)
Length: 2.5 m (8 ft 2 in)
Fun fact: They are energetic swimmers and
can be seen porpoising at high speeds, resembling
a herd of penguins.

Guiana dolphin
Weight: 60 kg (132 Ib)
Length: 2.1 m (6.9 ft)
Fun fact: it is almost identical to the Tucuxi
(Sotalia fluviatilis), and they are easily confused
where their distribution range overlaps.

Indo-Pacific humpback dolphin
Weight: 230 kg (510 lb)
Length: 3.5 m (11 ft 6 in)
Fun fact: At birth, the dolphins are black. They
change to grey, then pinkish with spots when
young. Adults are grey, white or pink.

Atlantic humpback dolphin
Weight: 285 kg (630 Ib)
Length: 3.1 m (10 ft 6 in)
Fun fact: This dolphin often has a
hump, which becomes more noticeable
as it ages.

Australian humpback dolphin

Fun fact: This dolphin is seen feeding around
reefs, river mouths and estuaries on small
fish, squid and octopuses.

Atlantic spotted dolphin
Weight: 130 kg (290 lb)
Length: 2.29 m (7 ft 6 in)
Fun fact: Atlantic spotted dolphins have light streamlined bodies, which are designed for fast swimming and acrobatic performances allowing them to quickly move through the water and make long leaps through the air.

Clymene dolphin
Weight: 80 kg (176 lb)
Length: 2 m (6.6 ft)
Fun fact: The underbody and belly however tends to
be a white-pinkish color instead of the light and dark
gray found. 0n the sides and top of the dolphin.

Pantropical spotted dolphin
Weight: 120 kg (264.15 Ib)
Length: 2.5 m (8.21 ft)
Fun fact: Yet this beautiful creature was also once endangered as millions of became snared in tuna nets. Since then, the adoption of dolphin-friendly tuna fishing measures has reversed that trend.

Spinner dolphin
Weight: 79 kg (174.87 Ib)
Length: 1.25 m (4.7 ft)
Fun fact: Spinner dolphins gather in pods that can
number into the thousands and are known for
spinning and leaping.

Striped dolphin
Weight: 160 kg (352 lb)
Length: 2.6 m (8.5 ft)
Fun fact: These dolphins are also very
acrobatic and may perform high jumps
and frequently breach the water.

Rough-toothed dolphin

Fun fact: A female of this species protects her calf by
swimming in close by and positioning herself between
her calf and other dolphins.

Fun fact: Unlike other dolphins this species tends to exhibit less socially active behavior than other species of dolphin and are more likely to stay distant or flee when coming into contact with humans.

Fun fact: Further, people, including scientists, once thought this incredible variety of dolphin to be quite rare. This held true because of the simple fact that sightings of it occurred extremely rarely.

Fun fact: They are also known for their ability to
dive to depths of more than 1,500 ft. where light
does not inhibit the ocean.

Fun fact: Given its name because of its white belly
and sides the Atlantic white-sided dolphin has a visual
appeal that stands out when compared to other dolphin species.

Length: 1.88 m (6 ft)
Fun fact: The diet of dusky dolphins consists primarily
of aquatic animals, that mainly includes fish and squid,
and they are preyed upon by orcas and sharks.

Weight: 90 kilograms (200 Ib)
Length: 1.8 m (5.9 ft)
Fun fact: The hourglass dolphin is a rare
species of dolphin that can be found swimming
in the Antarctic and Sub Antarctic oceans.
