Setting:
Ferdinand Magellan Portuguese explorer he set out from Spain in 1519 with a fleet of five ships to discover a western sea route to the Spice Islands. During the route he discovered what is now known as the Strait of Magellan and became the first European to cross the Pacific Ocean.

Ferdinand Magellan had a assistant whose name was Antonio Pigafetta. The crew consisted of people from many different southern and central European countries, perhaps most notably the Venetian scholar Antonio Pigafetta, who served as Magellan's assistant and wrote an account of the voyage.

Magellan and his crew endured a long voyage to the Philippines. While they reached the they had been at sea for more than a year. On April 27, 1521, Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan was killed by a poison arrow during a skirmish on the island of Mactan in what is now the Philippines.
