Like every other morning, Aiden arrived to school just on time. He felt extra tired since he had stayed up late to challenge his friends in an extra game of Fortnite. 

Quickly, Aiden hurried to his class because he could not afford to be late today.

As Aiden walked into class, he saw that there was something different on the board.

Instead of the morning work the was would be on the board, the board said "Call to adventure."

Aiden was curious about what this meant and waited for Mrs. Bridges to tell the students what they would be doing today.

Call to adventure

After waiting for what felt like all morning, Mrs. Bridges finally came into the room and began to talk about what was on the board. 

"Class, today we have a very important task." Mrs. Bridges said. "I have lost all of your math test and need you to help me find them right away!"

"What happens if we can't find them" Anthony asked very worried.

"Well, if we can't find them you will all have to take the test agin" Mrs. Bridges said shaking her head with.

Call to adventure

"Now class we don't have much time. You must split up and search all over the school until someone finds those test," Mrs. Bridges explained in a hurry.

"Whoever finds the test will be our class hero and will get an extra homework pass and can wear our class cape for the rest of the week. Now go class! Find those test!"

And just like that, all of the students started running in all directions to look for the missing tests.

Call to adventure

As Aiden started walking down the hall, he was thinking just how great it would be if he could be the class hero.

All school year other students always got picked for class hero. But if Aiden found the tests he would surely get to be the hero this time.

"I would look pretty good in that cape too," Aiden thought to himself. 

Aiden walked into the first classroom he could find. The third graders had been learning about forest this week and Mrs. Hall really spent a lot of time decorating for this. 

"Maybe the test are in the tent," Aiden said before crawling into the tent and searching all over for the tests. 

Aiden didn't seem to find the tests in the tent and quickly searched in the trees. After not having any luck, Aiden ran back into the hall to find another place to look.

Aiden then found himself in Mrs. Hammett's classroom. She had made her reading corner into a bonfire themed reading corner. S'mores are one of Aiden's favorite snacks so he spent a lot of time in this corner reading Dog Man.

Aiden checked on the bench and under the logs. He moved the sticks for roasting marsh-mellows and still, there were no tests in sight.  

He knew he needed to speed up before someone else found the tests and got to be the class hero. 

After a short jog down the hall, Aiden was in the lunch room.

"Mrs. Bridges could have left the test in here during lunch yesterday," Aiden thought out-loud as he started to look.

He looked in the refrigerator, the cabinets, the sink, the trash, on the lunch trays and in the milk crates but he still was empty handed. 

Aiden felt like he would never find these tests. He hung his head as he walked back into the hallway thinking he should just give up. 

Back out in the hallway, Aiden decided he would just go back to his class and wait for someone else to find the missing tests. 

Aiden was almost to Mrs. Bridges room when he walked right by the teacher work room. 

"Hmm," Aiden mumbled. "Maybe I should check this one last place before giving up."
