from Grandpa Jamieson

Ever since she was a little girl, Fifi loved to dance. Whenever she heard music, she simply could not sit still. She would jump to her feet and start dancing - and she would not stop until the music stopped.
She wasn't very good in the beginning, but with practice she became an excellent dancer. And then one day she discovered something new, something that would change her life forever.

That something was ballet. Fifi wanted to be a ballerina more than she had ever wanted anything. She dreamed of the day when she would dance across the storied stages of Europe to the thunderous applause of large and appreciative audiences. She would be a star and the world would be at her command!

As Fifi grew older, she took advantage of every opportunity available to her to learn how to be a better ballerina. And over time she became a very good dancer.
Fifi appeared in a number of local ballet productions as a young girl and developed quite a reputation for herself. By the time she graduated from high school, her dancing had won her a college scholarship.

After college, Fifi joined a ballet company and quickly became one of its star ballerinas. And before long the entire company was invited to perform in Paris, the City of Light.
What an opportunity it would be! Fifi was very excited about the show. Here, at last, was a chance to show the whole world how good she was.

The entire company worked hard to prepare for the show, but no one worked harder than Fifi.
Fifi was the best dancer, but she knew that everyone had to shine if the show was to be a success, so she helped everyone else to be as good - no, as GREAT - as they could be.
As the day of the great performance approached, the group was becoming a well-oiled machine!

When the time came, the entire group boarded a big airliner and jetted off to Paris. When they arrived, they checked into a ritzy downtown hotel and, since the show would not be performed until the following evening, they went off to see the sights.
By the end of the day, everyone was tired and went back to the hotel for a good night's sleep. Tomorrow would be a big day!

Everyone got up early the next morning to practice. Then they were told to relax for the rest of the day and rest up for that evening's performance. Some went shopping, others did a bit of sightseeing, and a few spent the day quietly reading or watching a movie.
Fifi, still full of energy, went rushing about town trying to do way too much. Before long, she was exhausted and went back to the hotel to take a nap. She carefully set her alarm clock so that she wouldn't oversleep and then drifted off into a deep relaxing slumber.

At that evening's performance, Fifi felt especially energized, so she began showing off a bit, spinning and twirling crazily, leaping wildly across the stage, and completely ignoring the other dancers. She was behaving very badly!
The other dancers were horrified, standing motionless at the edges of the stage. They were not happy! Neither was the director. But Fifi didn't even notice because the audience seemed to love her. "This," thought Fifi, "is my big moment and I am going to make the most of it! I am now a STAR!"
