Once upon a time, there
lived the Princess of
Prepositions.

Hello!
Even though she was young, the
Princess knew it was her duty to teach
the land about prepositions.
Every morning, she went in search of
someone new to teach about the
wonders of prepositions.

Who needs to learn aboutprepositions today...

Do you know whata preposition is?
Oh yes! Thank youfor asking.

Have you learned aboutprepositions?
Yes! We just learned aboutprepositions in leprechaun
school yesterday. Quite interesting-right?
The Princess asked everyone she could find in the village, but
everyone already knew all about prepositions. The Princess of
Prepositions was getting discouraged.

Aha!

She decided to try the forest. Maybe
she could find someone there who
needed to learn about prepositions.
After walking for awhile, she spotted
someone in the distance. The
princess walked even faster, full of
hope and excitement.

The Princess finally reached the mysterious figure.
"Hello," said the Princess to the orange person in front of
her. "I don't think we've meet before. I'm the Princess of
Prepositions."
"Hello Princess! My name is Samuel. I'm new here," he
replied.
"Wonderful! Have you learned about prepositions yet?"
asked the Princess gleefully.
Samuel looked curious. "No, what is that? A new kind
of animal?" he asked.

My name is Samuel.

The Princess dusted off her magic Book of
Prepositions and her magical travel chalkboard.
"A preposition isn't an animal! It's an important part
of speech. Let me explain...
A preposition does three things:
1. Locates in object in time
2. Locates an object in space
3. Shows a logical relationship"

3. Shows a logical
relationship

"Oh no!" said Samuel. "That sounds terribly
confusing! I don't think I can possibly learn about
these prepositions you speak of."
"Yes you can!" said the Princess. "It's simple. We'll
start at the beginning. A preposition locates an object
in time. For example, it is before noon right now. Or, I
went to the woods after I went to the village."

Prepositions:Locates an object in
time or space

The Princess continued, "Here are more
examples of prepositions that locate an object in
time:
I have Princess class at 8:00 this morning.
Today is Monday.
We are learning about prepositions at the
moment.
I want to be a Preposition Queen in the future.
All of these examples explain when in time
something is happening."

"Now it's your turn," said the Princess.
"Well," started Samuel hesitantly.
"My birthday is in July. I love the beach at sunset. I
love making mud pies on Sundays. I have viola lessons
every week."
"Great job Samuel!" said the Princess.
You just learned how to use a preposition to locate an
object in time. These prepositions of time are often in,
on, at, before, last, next, this, every and after.

Great job!
In, every, before, after, next, this...

before, last, next,
every,
this, after, in, at, next

"Now, let's work on prepositions that
locate an object in space. Such as,
under, above, below, inside, outside,
upon, next to, between behind, and
in front of." These prepositions tell
where something is in relation to
something else," explained the Princess.

"Let me try!" exclaimed Samuel.
"We are under the trees. I am not supposed
to jump on the bed. The flower is above the
ground. I want to live near an ice cream and
candy store!"
I'm on a roll!
