This is a story about everything I learned about the first president of the United States, George Washington. He laid the foundation for future presidencies. Washington is also known for leading Americans to victory during the American Revolution by leading the Continental Army.

My day started just like any ordinary day. I woke up and did my weekend chores. Only this time, my mom rewarded me with some cash! I was so happy. I thought of all the things I could buy but when I looked down I noticed a strange man at the center of the bill.

"Who are you?" I whispered to the man. And at that moment, my money began to rumble and crumble. The man at the center grew bigger and bigger until... "POP!"

The man towered over me and said, "I heard you were wondering who I was."
I nodded my head.
The man continued, "Well, I am George Washington! Would you like to spend the day with me? I'll explain everything you need to know about me."
I was unsure at first but then I thought how cool it would be to spend the day with the man on my $1 bill.
"Yes!" I screamed.

I was born into a planter family on February 22, 1732, in Virginia. I was put in charge of my family farm after my father's death. It was called Mount Vernon. I never got a formal education but I learned by reading books. I learned how to be a gentleman and how to survey land.
When I was 21 years old, I was sent to the Ohio Territory to tell the French to leave. When they didn't, the French and Indian war began. I was put in charge as an aide to General Braddock. During this war, I narrowly escaped death when my horse was shot out from under me.
I learned many skills during this war that I would later use in the American Revolution.

I'm glad you're okay!

After the French and Indian War, I went back to my farm and served in the Virginian House of Burgesses. I married Martha and We raised her two children but we never had any of our own.

My life was happy. However, my friends and I were growing tired of British rule and regulations. I became a delegate in the First and Second Continental Congress. We were a group of representatives from each colony that wanted to fight Britain together. In 1775, I was appointed Commander in Chief of the Continental Army. I led the army for 6 long years and we were finally victorious!

One of my most famous victories was crossing the Delaware River on Christmas.

I was also in Yorktown when the British surrendered.
After the Revolutionary War, I was considered a national hero!
I knew we needed a new constitution so I, along with others, joined the Constitutional Convention to begin drafting one. When the new Constitution was ratified, the Electoral College unanimously elected me to be the first president of the United States.

You look so different!
During my presidency, I established many roles and traditions as president. One is how the president is in charge of foreign policy. During the French Revolution, I chose not to choose sides and remained neutral.
