Mr. Alfred F. Mopay was once a very wealthy stock trader. He enjoyed his work, but when he was around 35, he was pulled into drug dealing by a very dangerous person. He was first reluctant to do it, but that business made a lot of money, and Mr. Mopay was a greedy man. The boss was named Aanya. She only showed up for important meetings, and sent instructions on the phone. She was very ruthless. When the boss Aanya apparently died, the business crashed and never recovered. Aanya was a very secretive person. Mr. Mopay was in despair, all his money was in the business and he couldn’t pay rent for his mansion.
One day, Mr. Mopay received a call from a banker from Bank of America. The banker said, “You have inherited your Uncle Jeffrey Mogul’s mansion. He left it in his will to you!” Mr. Mopay was very surprised. He had no idea he had an Uncle, but it was received well as he needed a home. “Thank you for telling me. When am I allowed to move in?” he asked the banker. The banker said, “You are allowed to move in whenever you want.” “Thanks for calling.” Mr. Alfred said. “Oh, and one last thing, the manor is known to be haunted.” the banker said. “Bah!” Alfred said.
Alfred drove with his butler Fred and his servant Al to the outskirts of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada from his home in Seattle. They stayed in hotels in Calgary and Toronto. When they arrived in the late evening, they were all dead tired so they went straight to bed in the living room. That very night, Mr. Alfred suddenly sat straight up. He had heard a noise in the house. He waited a few seconds but didn’t hear anything.
He lied back down, and just before he fell asleep, he heard another noise. He could faintly hear it, and it sounded like a cry. He was scared, so he woke up Fred and Al. After they were all awake, they all heard a cry again. “What was that?” Fred asked fearfully. “It sounds like a cry!” said Al. “Let’s go look for the noise.” said Alfred. “What, are you crazy master?” asked Al. “Whatever, lets just find it.” said Alfred. They stayed together, as they were very scared. They searched every room they could find in the mansion but didn’t find anything. They didn’t hear the noise again that night.
They went to bed again, but much more apprehensive now. They woke up without any more disturbances. The butlers cleaned the house, made breakfast for their master, and unpacked their things. The house was humongous! It was 4 stories high with 2 levels below the ground. It was over 10,000 square feet large. Alfred spent the next few days just mulling around. One day, he found a room he had never seen before behind his Uncle’s office. He saw a safe in there that must have belonged to his Uncle Jeffrey. He was astonished to see that the safe was open a crack! He quickly hurried to open it, and found a bunch of papers and a thick stack of paper bills!
They were 100 dollar bills, and they were in stacks of 100! The safe was walk-in-closet big, so it held a ton of money! There was at least 1,000,000 dollars in there! Mr. Alfred was so excited, he didn’t like the mansion very much, so with all that money he could buy another new and modern house. He could sell the mansion, but it wouldn’t be worth very much as it was old.
He had to sit down, so he sat down on a couch. Alfred leaned back and screamed suddenly as the couch fell open. He fell down and hit a hard surface. He found that he was in another room, this one empty. Alfred looked around in wonder! He was in a secret part of the house. He got up in wonder, and noticed that there was a ladder that he could use to climb back up. Curiosity took control of him though, so he took one step after another out of the secret room.
After a while, he found a door at the end of a hallway. Just as he was about to open the door, he heard a cry from inside! He quickly opened the door and looked inside. The room was a dungeon filled with prisoners in chains. They all cried “Free us, help us!” when they saw him. He was surprised, scared, and shocked! Prisoners in his house! He ran like lightning away because deep down he was a coward.
He quickly raced through the halls back to the ladder and climbed up it fast as a mouse. He quickly went to find Fred and Al to tell them about it. Alfred found them cleaning the kitchen. “Want a snack?” asked Al. “NO, NO, therearePRISONERSinthis house!” Alfred cried. “What, slow down.” Fred said. “There is a secret section in this mansion! In there, there are prisoners inside!” Al said, “Woah, I didn’t know that! Should we free them?” Just then, a loud CREAK happened above them! They all jumped. “W-what was that?” asked Fred. “There must be something here in this house!” said Al. “The banker said the house was haunted” said Alfred. “That must be it” said Fred. The prisoners were pushed out of their minds after that.
That night, Alfred heard a creaking noise again. He heard it 5 times that night, in different parts of the mansion. He talked with his servants the next morning, and they heard them too! They were all very scared and Alfred made arrangements to sell the house. He made a call to a realtor who said the market was very busy and he would come over in a week. “Please hurry!” Alfred said.
The next few days and nights, they all heard creaks. Fred and Al said they saw flashes of a dark figure when they were cleaning, but never saw it for very long and couldn’t find it. They also found Dead animals and notes in blood red, “Don't sell the house, or fear for your life.” Alfred read. “The thing must know we are going to sell the house! The next morning, Al had made Alfred’s breakfast, but Fred did not show up for breakfast.
“That’s funny, Fred is normally here by now.” Al said. Alfred went up to look for Fred in his bed, but Fred wasn’t there. On his way back down the stairs, he suddenly saw Fred lying on the floor in a pool of blood! Alfred saw that a knife had been stuck in Fred’s chest! He called Al up, and they just stood there shocked.
When they had recovered, they took Fred’s body to the backyard and buried him. They mourned for him respectively. “Should I call the police?” Al asked Alfred. “Heck no! We don’t want to get murdered by the thing too!” “Just keep your guard up, and try to find the thing.” Each time they wandered the house, they were very apprehensive. Each time they entered a room, they stiffened in fear. Finally when they were about to burst, the realtor came to to the house.
