As I looked over the kingdom, a sense of pride hit me. I was proud to be a part of the Inca Empire. I could see farmers working in the terraces and workers building a new road winding down the mountain. Working under Atahualpa was tiring though. He gave me a lot of important duties.

"Hey, Aca! I have a new job for you. I need for you to oversee construction in the city."
"Yes, Your Majesty."
I went down into the middle of Cusco to look at the construction of new roads, bridges, and, staircases. I talked to the head engineer working, and he said the road was going well, it was going to be over 50 miles to the next town. Over the river, a suspension bridge was being built, and it was looking very good.

After I oversaw the construction, I visited the fields. I asked the farmers what crops they were growing. They said they were growing potatoes, corn, and leaf vegetables. That was what they were supposed to be growing, so no problem there. The crops were growing so well this year because of the new canals that controlled the water flow down the mountainside. Llamas also were a big help, carrying heavy loads for the farmers.
As I walked back through the city, I realized I didn't like sacrifices, whether they were animal or human. Human sacrifices were made to please Inti, but I didn't agree with it in my mind. Also, animal sacrifices were made to help heal us, but they didn't work often. Oh yeah, recently we developed herb medicines that could heal us much better. Textiles were used to make nice clothes for everyone. In addition, musical instruments were being made for cultural reasons.

Pay your taxes!
As I walked back to the palace, I yelled out to the citizens to pay their taxes because of the new road project. I heard a lot of "Hmmphs" and "... Emperor". I walked on and continued spreading the word. Behind me, some of Atahualpa's men were getting people to come work on the road for their payment.
I finished by duties for the morning and went back to the palace. Suddenly, a scout on foot raced in front of me! He said, "Sir! I saw a group of people down in the valley coming up the road!" I wondered who they could be. "Who are they?" I asked. He said, "They are wearing strange clothes and hats, and they are on weird creatures." We then hurried to the palace to tell the king.
