This is Felix. Felix wants to run for president. He has some ideas that would help improve his community. The first thing he has to think about is if he is allowed to run. 

Yes he is! He was born in this country. He is over 35 years old and he has lived in his country for 14 years. But there are many steps he must take to run for president. Let's work through the steps with Felix!

Step one of starting a Presidential Campaign is to get recognized that he would be a good president. Felix needs to make sure he has lots of friends that will support him and vote for him

My campaign strategy to win the votes of people is to promise to bring stability to our country. In order to bring about positive change and hope, we must have a stable government. I want everyone to feel comfortable and like their opinion is heard. I need to travel around the country and spread my intentions.

Now that Felix has decided his campaign strategy and picked his helpers, he needs to begin to campaign for the primary elections. The primary elections show who will represent their political party in the big election. A political party is a group of people who believe in certain values and ideas on how the government should be run. Felix needs to win the primary election against other candidates of the same political party in order to run for the final general election. The primaries occur in the beginning of the election year (around February). 

CHAPTER 2

Felix is a member of the Guard Party.  The other Guard party candidate Felix is going to run against is Amber. While Felix likes Amber, he believes he would be a better president.

Listen everyone, we need to work hard to win the delegates in the primaries. Delegates are representatives that will lead us to be the Guard party candidate. We need to travel to every state in the country giving speeches and interacting with people in order to win state primary elections!

There are multiple ways a primary election can occur. One way is to have a caucus. During a caucus, voters gather to openly debate the candidates and then vote. This is a very interactive option for citizens to participate in.
