When God made the world
When God made the world, He made the stars in the sky, all the animals like dogs and cats, and even people! He made it all, and He said it was good.

When God made people, He placed them in a garden called Eden. These people were called Adam and Eve, and God loved them.
God told Adam and Eve that they would rule over all the animals he had made, and even let them give the animals names. God also told Adam and Eve to fill the whole earth with people, and He later gave them many children. But before God gave them a baby, soon after this promise, something happened.

Because they disobeyed God, They couldn’t stay with Him in the garden anymore, and some bad things were going to happen. there would be hostility between them and the Satan. For Eve and her children, having a baby would be hard, for Adam and his children, working to get food and shelter would be hard. And they could no longer live forever.

God told Adam and Eve that they could eat from any fruit tree in the who garden except for one. But they disobeyed God, and ate the fruit anyways because a snake called Satan told them it was good.

"And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.” Genesis 3:15
God also made a promise about the snake that tricked Adam and Eve. He told the snake that one of Eve's descendants would destroy Satan, but be hurt in the process of doing so. God didn't say it at the time, but the one who would destroy Satan would be God's son, Jesus.

A long time after Adam and Eve, there lived a man called Abraham. And God chose Abraham to start a special people, and through that special people He would bless the whole world. God promised Abraham a special land, descendants, and blessings. The special thing about this promise is that Abraham didn't have to do anything to keep it, but God kept the promise regardless.
“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." Genesis 12:2-3
