Once upon a time, there was a girl named Taylor. This year Taylor was going into the 1st grade. She could hardly sleep, "I can't wait to go to school," Taylor Exclaimed. She got ready as fast as she could, grabbed her backpack, walked to the end of the street, and waited at the bus stop with her moms. As the bus came to a stop, Taylor had a huge smile on her face and eagerly got on the bus. She waved goodbye to her parents until they were out of sight.

"Goodbye!"

"Have a good day at school"
*Bark*

When Taylor finally arrived at her classroom, she talked to the other students. She was excited to meet her new classmates and make new friends.
The teacher walked to the front of the classroom and introduced herself to everyone. Hello students," she yelled, trying to talk over the loud chatter. Then in a calm voice, she said, "my name is Mrs. Mckernan, and I am your 1st-grade teacher for this year.
WELCOME TO 1ST GRADE!

Good morning Everyone, please take a seat.

At the end of the day, Mrs. McKernan passed out papers to everyone. "For our first assignment, I want all of you to go home and make a family tree so we can get to know one another."
Taylor usually didn't like doing homework but this time was different. She was excited and wanted to go home so she could start her project.

Taylor didn't waste one minute, she burst through her front doors and ran straight to the table. She quickly realized that she needed her moms to help her.
Taylor enjoyed creating her family tree with her parents. By the time she finished her project, she had learned a lot about her family. She was ready to present her project.
"Yes, of course we'll help you!"

"Can you help me?"

As soon as Taylor walked into the classroom, she wanted to show off her project to some of the other students before class started. The kids looked confused when she showed them her family tree." All of ours look the same," one of the kids said, "So why is yours different, it must be wrong?" They laughed not realizing how upset they made Taylor.

"Where's your dad?"

"Haha, I dont think thats right"

Taylor grew more and more anxious waiting for class to start. The bell rang and it was time for everyone to present their projects to the rest of the class but Taylor told Mrs. McKernan that she didn't want to present her project today. Mrs. McKernan saw the disappointed look on Taylors face, "You don't have to present if you don't want to." she said assuredly. For the rest of the day she sat at her desk silently while the other kids presented.
"I don't want to share mine"
"That's ok, I understand"
