There was once a little girl named Joy. Joy was always filled with so much happiness! She was such a sweet and kind little girl, who loved everyone that she met.

One day, Joy decided that she wanted to show her friends and family how much she cared about them. She said, “words just won’t do!”

So Joy set out to find a way to express her love! 

Joy thought “hmm! I’ll make my friends cards that show them just how much I love them!

So, Joy grabbed her scissors, glue, and markers, and sat down to make her friends cards. She tried and tried, but the cards just didn’t come out quite right. “Oh no!” said Joy. “How will my friends see that I love them?” 

Joy started to become discouraged, but she remembered what her mom would always tell her, “Never give up Joy!” So she sat out to find a different way to show her friends and family how much she loved them. 

Joy walked into her room and saw the birthday gift that her grandmother had given her! She remembered how loved she felt. Then it dawned on her! “I’ll give my friends and family all a gift!” Joy said.

So the next day, when Joy’s mother went into town, Joy decided to go with her. She opened up her piggy-bank, and took out $5 and 75 cents! “This should be enough!” Joy thought to herself. 

That very day, as Joy and her mother went shopping, Joy looked and looked for the “just right” gifts. She found a beautiful toy doll that she just knew her sister would love! Joy ran over to it and excitedly picked it up. 

Joy’s face immediately showed her disappointment. “12 dollars?!” Joy exclaimed. She had no idea that things were so expensive! She quickly realized that she couldn’t afford to buy all of her friends and family gifts.

Joy stood in the aisle of the store and began to pout. “I’ll never find a way to show the people I love just how much I love them!”

Just then Joy’s mother came over to her, Joy told her mother everything that had happened. She explained the plan to show everyone just how much she cared about them, and how it had been much harder than she expected.
