There once was a little puppynamed Spot. Spot was a very
playful pup, and loved to
play fetch in the back yard
with his owner, Andy.

2
Andy was Spot’s best friend, andSpot loved being around Andy.
Andy would always throw the tennis
ball with Spot and go on walks with Spot.
Andy would also make forts in his
bed, and eat snacks and tell ghost stories
in the forts with Spot.

3
Some nights when Spot was feelinglonely, Andy would let Spot into
his bed to sleep with him. Spot loved
sleeping by Andy, it made him
feel warm and safe.

4
But one thing that did not makeSpot feel safe was storms.
The sound of thunder made
Spot shutter, and the strikes
of lightning shook Spot in fear.

5
Andy also had a fear of storms, and Spot always tried to help Andy
by being there for him during the
storms, but how could he when
he too was afraid.

6
Spot tried harder and harder everytime to be brave for Andy, and
comfort him during the storms.
But as hard as he tried, Spot still
struggled to get over his fear in
order to help his best friend.

7
One storm came along, and Spotwas going to try to not be scared
by closing his eyes during the
storm, so that the lightning would
not frighten him.

8
At first Spot’s plan seemed to work, until a large bang of thunder rang in
the air, and Spot ran for cover under
Andy’s bed, like he always did
when he was afraid.

9
After the storm ended, Spot cameout, upset that he was not brave
during the storm. But spot didn't
give up there!

10
By the time the next storm rolled around,Spot had already thought of a new plan
to help him stay brave during the storm.
Since last time the sound of thunder is
what scared Spot, this time he was going
to cover his ears with his paws so that
he could not hear the noise, and it would
not scare him.

11
Spot sat next to the door of thehouse watching the sky, ready
for anything, with his paws on
his ears ready to be brave.

12
But when the first strike of lightning lit up the sky, Spot
was terrified, and ran back
under Andy’s bed once more.

13
Spot was even more mad at himself for not being brave this time, and
thought for sure his plan would
work. Spot didn't know what else
to do. He had tried everything he
could to hide from the storm. Spot
felt sad and defeated, but still did
not want to let Andy down.

14
A week later, Andy and Spot werehaving a great time in one of their
bed forts when they heard Andy’s
parents talking about a storm that
was about to come through.
