Dedicated to
my family.
Thanks for all the
love and support.
You guys are really appreciated.

When writing this story, I chose the a genre more associated with children's stories and fiction. My story challenges the idea that children have to solve their own problems. In my story, the grandmother helps the grandson, Charles, solve his problem. I followed the convention that children's stories should have child characters. I completely agree with that. This helps children relate better to the story. I would like to share overcoming fears with children. It is alright to be afraid, and adults understand. Sometimes our fears are irrational and better understanding a situation helps us to overcome fears and outcomes associated with fears. I also want children to be comfortable with their parents and family. As shown in my story, Charles finds comfort in his grandmother's presence.
He is also comfortable talking with her and being around her. In the story, I matched my images with my words. My words and characters were supposed to display a comfortableness wit children and their families. The story is also supposed to relate children to God and positiveness that is usually related with Him. The images are very simple and not complex to help children better understand my themes as well as the story. I want the children to be able to picture what is going on in the book. I also want the children to relate to the book. Maybe my story will help children to be more trusting and help individuals to overcome fears as well.
It was a bright and sunny day. Charles was sleeping when the sun came shining into his room. Suddenly he began to smell bacon coming down the hall. He knew that his Grammy was getting breakfast ready.

He quickly got up and headed to the bathroom. After getting dressed he ran to the kitchen where Grammy was with a big smile and breakfast fit for a champion.

"Good morning," Grammy said with a smile as bight as the sun. "Good morning," Grammy said Charles. Charles ate his breakfast and asked Grammy, "May I go outside? My friends are waiting at the park." Grammy said with a smile, "Yes you may." She gave him a wink and off he ran.
Charles ran to the park and Grammy watched until he disappeared. Charles and his friends played and enjoyed the day. They played kickball, box ball, basketball and rode bikes up the hill.

As Grammy watered her flowers she noticed the storm clouds in the sky. She knew that Charles was afraid of the storms and he would be coming home soon. She knew he loved her pies, cookies, and cakes. With this in mind, she headed in to prepare goodies for Charles to enjoy during the storm that was sure to come.
