This is my friend Sandi! 

      Hi!

      Sandi goes by they/them pronouns! 

Meaning that they don't identify as a boy or a girl!

I like to play with dolls and cars! I love to wear dresses and also play football with my brother! 

It was Sandi's first day of school on Monday! 

"Hello, you must be Sandi! I'm Ms. Abbigail. It's wonderful to meet you! Please take your seat."

  "Okay!"

But it wasn't how Sandi imagined it would be.

Sandi was bullied for how they looked. 

You're a girl! Girls aren't supposed to have boy haircuts. 

Ha Ha Ha! You're a loser! 

It was the same every day for Sandi.

            They would come in wearing a dress or a skirt and get bullied.

                   They would be seen playing with a different toy and be picked on for it. 

                           It wasn't fair, and no one was doing anything to help them.

Look and smelly Sandi wearing that dumb dress!

She's so lame!

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!

Some students just stood by and laughed. 

I started school two months after Sandi did. 

On my first day there I saw Sandi getting bullied and knew I had to do something about it!

So I went over and I introduced myself!

My name is Sandi. But I don't think you'd want to be friends with me. Everyone thinks I'm weird.

Hi! My name is Izabella, but you can call me Bella! What's your name?

I don't think you are weird!

You don't?

Thank you, Bella! You are my very first friend! 

Of course not! Being normal is boring! Everyone is unique and beautiful just the way they are!

     Me too!

I hope we will be best friends forever!

      Sandi and I played every day while we were at school with each other. 

         I thought that eventually, the bullying would stop. 

                                  But it didn't.

                     In fact, it got even worse!

  Later that day we went to the Principle's office. 

         He told us that he will take care of everything to make sure that Sandi's bullying will stop.
