Computer Network

A network is a group of computers connected together in a way that allows information to be exchanged between the computers.

Packet

A piece of a message that moves over a packet-switching network.

Local Area Network (LAN)

A LAN is a network of computers that are in the same general physical location, usually within a building.

Wide Area Network (WAN)

A wide area network (also known as WAN), is a large network of information that is not tied to one place.

Node

 A node is anything that is connected to the network. While a node is usually a computer, it can also be like a printer or CD-ROM tower.

Media Access Control (MSC)

 This is the physical address of any device such as the NIC in a computer on any  network that you use.

IP Address

IP Address or "Internet Protocol" is a unique address that identifies a device on the internet or a network.

Bus Topology

A type of network topology in which all devices in the network are connected by one central RJ-45 network cable or coaxial cable.

Ring Topology

A ring topology is a network layout where each networked device is connected to two other devices on either side of it to form a “ring” data path.

Network Token

Network tokens are virtual payment cards created by the payment plans, and they replace the original card with a digital one.

Star Topology

 In a star network, each node is connected to a central point called a hub . 

Tree Topology

A tree topology, or star-bus topology, is a hybrid network topology in which star networks are connected together from bus networks. 

Protocol

A set of rules or procedures for transferring data between electronic devices, like computers.

Peer-Peer Architecture

Peer to peer architecture is a type of computer networking architecture in which there is no  distinction of abilities from the various stations or nodes of a network.

Client/Server Architecture

An architecture of a computer network in which many clients or processors, request and receive service from a center server or original computer.
