NATURAL DISASTERS

In the last twenty years, the world has suffered a lot due to natural disasters. That affected human psychology in an unpleasant way. For example, their houses were ruined and they lost their loved ones. Several animal species have gone extinct, have stuck under the rubble because of the earthquakes and their habitats have been burned.
Some cities have been collapsed by the earthquakes and some people that have been stuck under the rubble never been able to be found. The 8.6 China Earthquake, 7.9 Turkey Earthquake, and 8.2 Canada Earthquake are among the most destructive ones. These earthquakes that happened all around the world caused the death of many people.
Plenty of volcanic eruptions have happened all around the world. So many forests have been burned because of this and animal habitats have been destroyed. The eruptions reached some cities luckily, no one got hurt.
The artists and song writers have written numerous songs about losing their loved ones.

In the last 20 years, the World has suffered a lot due to natural disasters. One of the most important disaster is global warming. Global warming is having an immeasurable effect on our planet. Its effects have been clearly seen for a long time by the way of scientific research. Some gases called greenhouse gases, like Carbon dioxide (CO2), absorbs and radiates the heat. About half of this heat goes out into space, and about half of it returns to Earth, contributing to the 'greenhouse effect’. This stuation causes changes day by day in the land and ocean balances. Human activities such as the burning of fossil fuels, industrial activities, as well as increasing population are the primary cause of the increased carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere leading to global warming. Global warming affects other natural disasters as well.
Global warming effects have been affected Turkey too.
Global warming caused discruption of agricultural products, therefore, farmers couldn’t collect their harvest causing economic problems. In the same time the global warming increases the frequency of extreme weather events and this causes agricultural problems too. As an example, less rain and snowfall caused decrease in the agricultural harvest in Central Anatolian region.
Due to the intense agricultural activities in Turkey, the agriculture gets affected mostly by the global warming. Another problem that Turkey is confronting is the water problem. Our water resources keep decreasing; because Turkey suffers serious drought.
On the other hand, due to global warming we face higher temperatures than we used to face before, causing forest fires and some regions like Aegean and Mediterranean in the last two years had to overcome serious burning forests situations.
Besides these, animal and plant species are threatened with extinction. This problem is seen in Turkey as well as in other countries in the world.
Of course these are not the only issues that global warming is causing.
Some of the negative effects that our country is facing due to global warming are presented below:
- Excessive rains may cause flood disasters in Black Sea region
- The rising temperature of the Earth has, without doubt, been responsible for melting glaciers in high mountains
- Some rivers in Turkey faces drought and get endangered like Burdur river.
Besides these, there might be more in the future due to global warming affecting everything from geopolitics to economies to migration.

Water Pollution is seen as the cause of many diseases and deaths. In countries where there is water pollution, people are working to reduce this disaster because 15.000 people die directly or indirectly because of the water pollution’s disease in a day.
USA is the most water polluted country in the world. According to researchers; 45% of the river basins, 47% of the lake basins, 32% of the harbor and estuary are polluted.
Water pollution can be caused not only by people but also by animals.
Natural causes of water pollution are; volcanoes, earthquakes, winds and excessive algae growth.
Water pollution is 2 kinds. One of them is Point Pollution and the other is Diffuse Pollution.
Point Pollution: Contaminated by waste from a specific location such as a pipe or ditch in the basin. Like; household waste and factory waste.
Diffuse Pollution: Without a specific source, messy pollution.
Water Pollution is determined by 3 methods. These are: Physically, Chemical and Biological.
Physically: Measured by heat, solid concentration and blur methods.
Chemical: Measured by pH degree, oxygen demand, nutritive value, metals, petroleum, animal fats etc.
Biological: It is measured by these; The health of plants, animals or microorganism.
We Can Reduce Water Pollution By These Ways
-Reduce the use of plastic.
-Using a landscape that allows water flow in the garden.
-Not using products that are not lost in nature.
-To make sure that there are no toxic substances are left in the boxes of chemical cleaners when throwing them away.
The basins in Turkey where water pollution is most common are; The Van Lake Basin, Marmara, East Black Sea, Çoruh, Gediz, Kızılırmak-Yeşilırmak, Meriç-Ergene and Susurluk.

An avalanche is a rapid flow of snow down a slope such as a hill or a mountain. Avalanches can be set of spontaneously by such factors as increased precipitation or snowpack weakening or by external means such as humans animals and earthquakes.
Avalanches mostly occurs on mountains. If there are humans on the mountain when the avalanche begins; they may get injured or even die! This kind of accident can happen while skiing or mountain climbing. The people who does these kind of sports professionally can see several avalanches during their lifetimes or they may even die because of an avalanche! Because of these kinds of risks they have to take precautions about safety; for example when a skier is skiing he/she has to wear a helmet to protect their heads and wear warm clothes to not be frozen to death. And mountain climbers need special equipments such as a thick, long and safe rope and a helmet to protect their heads and wear soft, warm and thick clothes to prevent them from freezing to death as well.
There happens to be so many wintersporters who lost their lives because of an avalanche to stop or at least decrease the number of deaths caused by an avalanche we need to plant more trees on areas that has the most risk of hosting an avalanche and wintersporters can change their locations to another place which has less risk of an avalanche and continue their sports there professors say that “Weather is the architect of all avalanches.” So they must follow weather forecast frequently and if he says that it is going to be thundery they must stop their sports till the weather gets better. And the more powerful the storm is the more heavy the avalanche gets and the if it’s heavier it carries more risk of hosting a death.
Avalanches mostly occur in the backcountry, outside of boundaries of developed ski areas. About 90% of all avalanche begin on slopes of 30-45 degrees about 98% occur on slopes of 25-50 degrees.
The deadliest avalanche ever recorded was the Huascarân Slide of 1970 and it was recorded in Peru. The avalanche moved down hill at a speed of 100 MPH with a mess of roughly 80 million cubic feet of ice, mud and rock. It run nearly 11 miles, burying the towns of Yungay and Ranrahirca in up to 300 feet of rock and debris. Estimates suggest that the avalanche killed over 20.000 people.

Drought rate has increased drastically recently all over the world. And what is drought? Drought, which can be defined as water scarcity caused by a temporary imbalance in the amount of moisture in a region, is a natural climatic phenomenon and can occur at any time and place. Drought usually develops slowly and covers a long period. We have no water source. We can’t feed ourselfs. Some of humans are dying .Most of animals are dying too. If this situation continues, the world will soon come to an end. Drought rate has increased by 75% recently.
Scientists found a planet. 100 people were selected to send into space. Tests are being carried out regarding the possibility of living on the planet found. Thanks to the bracelets, we get information about whether we can live there or not. Only 13 out of 100 were reported to have died. In the continuation of this experiment, it was determined that the remaining 87 people could live comfortably. Some scientists around the world decided to continue their experiments on the planet. When they arrived, they decided that the gravitational force is lower than that of the earth. In the following days, they concluded that this planet is the solution to "DROUGHT".

In the last twenty years, the world has suffered a lot due to natural disasters and famine is one the leading disasters in Africa.
African countries have been suffering from the fatal effects of famine for a long time.
Our correspondent Dara is reporting his observations from Uganda. Let’s watch our next video shot in Uganda by Dara and learn more.
Well, in order to catch the world’s attention to the disaster and make the whole world aware of the famine, wanted to visit Uganda and interview with a Uganda citizen. I met Abdalla and shot a short video about the effects of famine on his family and neighbourhood.
I asked him about his thoughts while growing up in a country suffering from famine.
“I didn’t even think that not drinking water or eating food was something bad, being hungry and thirsty was something regular for me. My country has been suffering from famine for about a decade,so noone, not even our mayor, in Uganda has ever seen things like sinks or pools.” said Abdalla.
So, it made me think if there were any other tragedies that happened in the past or not.
“Abdalla, did you or your family and friends go through anything different or tragic?” I asked.
He said, ”One of my little cousins passed away recently because of the lack of nutrition and he wasn’t getting hydrated enough. I was upset about it,so I’ve decided to go abroad and find a solution. However, our family is not that good financially. I’m saving money,so one day I’ll save my village.”
His answer to my question made me feel sad about him and his country. Was there anything I could do to help him? I thought for a while. And I came up with an idea that could save thousands of people. My idea was to start a campaign for people who’s suffering from famine.I set up a website and started to collect money for them. If you want to contribute them, please just visit my website and donate!
Please help these people save their lives and generations!
That’s all from Uganda..
Thanks a lot Dara.
Another country suffering from famine is Yemen. Our correspondent Emre is there now and he will share his observations with us.

Hello Emre, we are listening to you now.
Hi there! We can see the terrible effects of the disaster almost everywhere. After a coalition of some countries from Africa and the Middle East intervened Yemen, famine began in Yemen. Before shooting my video, I wanted to go around and see what people were doing and how they survived. Here are my observations. Actually,I couldn’t see many people in the streets, and almost all of those whom I saw were so weak and sick that their bones could be counted! They are all so weak that they can get sick very quickly. I have also met a family of five. It is a family with a newborn baby, a slightly older child and a 16-year-old teenager, and parents. However, this family is not much different from the people I see in the street. If the conditions go on like this, the newborn baby will die because of malnutrition and lack of vitamins in the slightest illness. Samet, the middle child, has fallen weak and small because he is malnourished compared to his normal age. Aslı,the eldest children, is taking care of the housework and she is trying to help her mother take care of her siblings.
Their father works hard to make a living, but they can't do anything because there is not enough food for everyone in the country. Unless the harsh conditions change, everyone around will come to an end even if they try their best to survive! This country is in need of help and it’s urgent! The U.N and the neighbouring countries have to act as soon as possible! And as an individual action, when I get back to my homeland,I am also planning to set up a charity and a website to ask for money, food, water and clothing donations from our own people to help the people in Yemen. I think that it will make a lot of sense, and I believe that it's worth a try. Some representatives from Kızılay ,AFAD and the other charities and foundations from Turkiye are here and they are delivering a certain amount of food and beverages to the families. I am leaving Yemen tonight, and till then, I will be helping them as well!
That’s all from Yemen.

We continue at full speed after the commercials, dear audience. As you know, we are talking about natural disasters in the world and the conditions that people in the world have to endure because of these reasons, instead of absurd events, surprising things people do or interviews with successful people, like other news channels, we talk about the conditions that people in the world have to endure because of these reasons. we continue this because we want to draw attention .Now, we are in one of the places where the tsunami disaster, which is very different from the drought event in the previous news and has a great destructiveness, is seen the most.
We are with Melisa from Thailand, hello Melisa, can you tell us a little bit about the subject you are going to tell us and the interview? Hello everyone, people living here live in fear that something will happen at any moment. Since it is not a developed country, they could not keep it under control, and it is seen that they have suffered great losses in at least 4 years, both materially and spiritually. Now we have someone who had the 2004 tsunami with us.hello lady aung sang, we are listening to you, can you tell us how hard times you went through? It was the worst and most painful day of my life, the fire inside me is still not extinguished I lost my husband, I lost my parents, my brother, my house is gone, my belongings are gone, it doesn't matter! Tsunami took my loved ones from me, it's so hard in this world, I wish I had nothing but if my loved ones lived. First of all, we would like to express our condolences and patience to Ms. Aung Sang, and now I have something to add. While history remembers this painful day with numbers, those who lived there could not forget those painful moments. Although there were fears about the future, over time, it managed to turn leaves of hope again. Every morning brings its own beginning, every day there is hope for everything…

In the past twenty years, the world has suffered a lot due to natural disasters. One of these natural disasters was volcanic eruptions. Volcanic eruption is the name given to the fact that a layer of solid magma reaches extreme temperatures, becomes liquid and gaseous, and gushes out from the closest point to the earth. Because the gas produced in volcanic eruptions is toxic, it poses a great danger to the life of a living being. Today, most of the volcanoes are inactive, but there are also active ones. Active volcanoes are observed by people. The largest volcanic eruptions in history;
1 - Toba caldera(Indonesia)
2-Yellowstone caldera(USA)
3 - tambora mountain (Indonesia)
4-krakatoa (Indonesia)
5-huaynaputina (southern Peru)
6 -novarupta (USA)
7-Santa Maria volcano (Guatemala)
8-Mount Pinatubo (Philippines)
9-Vesuvius (Italy)
Many of these volcanoes have provided great benefits to people. There are some precautions that we should take to avoid such losses. Some of them are not to establish a residential area in areas where there is a possibility of a volcanic eruption
Preparing an area that can evacuate the area where the volcanic eruption occurred in case of a possible emergency
To carry out works aimed at saving human life by installing sets resistant to high heat and pressure.
we should not be indifferent to any natural disasters, including volcanic eruptions on our Earth.
