"Wake up Eve! It's time for your first day of school!" Eve's mom called from the kitchen. Eve was a little excited, but very worried. She had just moved to a new town at the beginning of the summer. Now, she has to start a new school. Eve was worried she wasn't going to make any friends. She had no friends at her old school. Nevertheless, she threw her uniform on, brushed her hair and went downstairs.
Eve's mom was making eggs. "Hi, honey! Are you excited about your first day of school!" Eve put on a fake smile and replied, "Yes!" Her mother smiled and said, "I'm sure you'll make a ton of friends! Here are your eggs!" She handed Eve the eggs, which Eve quickly ate. Suddenly, Eve's mother looked at Eve with a worried expression. "Eve, did you get any sleep last night? You look exhausted." The answer was no, Eve rarely slept well. "Not really," Eve replied. The bus came, and Eve said goodbye to her mother and got on the bus.
Eve looked at everyone on the bus. Not many people looked very friendly. Eve decided to sit alone at the back of the bus. She always felt a little sad sitting alone, but she was almost used to it by now. A couple of minutes later, a girl said, "Hey. Mind if I sit here?" Her hair was purple, her voice was hoarse and her words were slurred. However, Eve was so glad that someone was finally talking to her, so she didn't even notice how suspicious this girl was.
The girl's name was Blair. Blair and Eve talked on the bus for a while. Eve talked about herself and where she was from, but Blair didn't seem very interested, as though she was focusing on something else... However, Eve was too happy to notice her strange behavior.
Suddenly, Blair said, "I'm going to throw a party after school today! Do you want to come?" Eve was so glad that she was invited to a party. Eve replied, "Yes! I would love to come." Blair smiled and said, "Great. See you at 5:00 PM tonight. I'm going to try and invite some other people now. See ya later!" And just like that, Blair got up and left. However, Eve had no idea that this party was going to make her very upset.
About 10 minutes later, the bus stopped. Eve was going to have her first glance at her new school, and she was very nervous. Eve got out of the bus and walked inside the school. The building was huge, and there were so many people! This is bad, Eve thought, How am I going to make friends in a gigantic school like this? But she remembered Blair, and felt more calm.
The school day went by very fast. Eve had not paid any attention in any of her classes, because she was so excited about the party. Before she knew it, the school day was over. The bus brought Eve back to her house first. Eve told her mother about the party and about how nice Blair was. Her mother was a little suspicious, but eventually she approved of the party. Eve thanked her mother and drove to Blair's house.
When Eve arrived at Blair's home, she was surprised at how small it was. It was a one-story home. Blair probably invited a lot of people, and everyone was going to be cramped in the small house. Don't think about that right now, Eve told herself, You finally have a friend, don't ruin this for yourself.
Eve walked up to the door and rang the doorbell. Blair opened the door almost immediately. Blair was wearing a one-sided black crop top with tight shorts. Before Eve could say hello, Blair said, "What are you wearing?" Eve was still wearing her uniform. Blair sighed and said, "You can borrow some of my clothes. Come in! Quick, before anyone sees you!" Blair rushed Eve into her room.
Blair's room was very small, and it had an odd stench. Blair opened her drawer and grabbed a bralette and black tights. She handed them to Eve and said, "This looks like it should be around your size." Eve didn't want to wear a bralette, but she told herself, You have to do this if you want to fit in, until she finally convinced herself to do it. She went into the bathroom and put the bralette and tights on.
Eve walked out of the bathroom. Blair looked at her and said, "Okay, you can join the party now." Eve and Blair walked outside. There were about 30 people all dancing and having fun inside the house. Eve stayed by herself for a while, just eating some food and rocking out.
After a while, Blair found Eve and said, "Hey Eve, come join us!" Blair was with a couple boys and one other girl. They all looked punky and suspicious. Of course, Eve joined them anyways.
They led Eve into a small room. Eve took a seat on the couch, and Blair and the other girl sat next to her. Blair said, "Eve, these are some of my friends." Blair points to the girl and says, "She's Ryanne," and then points to the boys and says, "They're twins, the one on the left is Freddie and the one on the right is Theo." Ryanne giggled, and the two boys waved lazily.
After the group talked for a while, Blair said, "I'm bored. Let's go dye our hair! I'm like SOOO tired of purple." Ryanne said, "Great idea!" The boys agreed with the idea as well. Eve knew that she would get in trouble for dyeing her hair. Also, her hair was a beautiful strawberry blonde and she wanted to keep it. Nevertheless, she said, "Ok, sounds like a good idea."
So they went to the hair salon. Eve dyed her hair pink with purple streaks. She also cut it very short. Blair dyed her hair red, Ryanne got highlights, and both the boys dyed their hair green. When Eve looked at herself in the mirror, she thought she was going to cry. She never wanted to do this!
After that, they went to the nail salon. Blair made everyone get black, fake nails. Everyone except Eve seemed to like their nails. However, Eve thought they looked demonic. And Eve was right. The beautiful young teen she was yesterday was now smothered in punk essence.
Blair clapped her hands and said, "Time to do makeup! Y'all have to look good for the BOYS...or in Theo and Freddie's case, GIRLS..."
Eve was shocked! She had no idea that Blair was setting her up with a boy she didn't know. "Wait-" she began, but she was interrupted with Blair saying, "My older sister knows these people, and she says they are very hot!" Eve gasped and stammered, "I-I don't know a-about this -" Blair snarled at Eve and said, "You need to try to keep up, ok Eve?" Eve thought for a while. Eventually, she thought, Well, if everyone else is doing it, what's the big deal? She agreed to meet the boy.
Blair smiled and said, "Good, Eve." She did Eve's makeup first. She put 5 layers of dark red lip gloss on her lips, as well as eyeliner and a lot of foundation and blush. Blair did the same thing for herself and Ryanne. She also put a little foundation on Theo and Freddie, because they had terrible acne. Eve officially looked like a punk and she knew it. But she kept telling herself, I have to do this to fit in, I have to do this to fit in...
