My book is dedicated to Stephen King and Alex R. Kahler or K.R. Alexander. These two authors have had a big impact on me wanting to be an author and to write books not just for children but for teens as well

It was a bright sunny morning and the sun danced across Shi's face.
"Is it morning already?" Shi said yawning. She got up from her bed and began to walk toward the bathroom.
When she was done brushing her teeth, she went downstairs and smelled something amazing from the kitchen.
"PANCAKES!" she yelled as soon as she found out what the smell was. She dashed down the stairs.
Her mother laughed at her daughter's excitement.
"What's the special occasion?" Shi's older brother asked sleepily while walking down the stairs to where Shi and his mother were at. He was rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
"Well, I just thought that Shi would like a special breakfast for her first day of 2nd grade!" Shi's mother explained happily.
"Wait what!?" Shi screeched, almost dropping her sky-high plate of pancakes. "First day of 2nd grade?! I thought that was two weeks from now!" She cried out. "I'm not prepared for 2nd grade yet!" Her wings dropped down to her side.
"Oh honey, I'm so sorry." Her mother cooed, rushing over to her daughter. "I should have told you yesterday!" She put Shi's plate of pancakes on the table and wrapped her up in her arms.
"I'm not going!" Shi sniffled. "What if the kids make fun of me?!"
Her mother stroked her hair.
"Now now Shi, you know kids won't do that! They didn't last year remember?" her mother whispered.
"Yeah, and plus whoever messes with my little sister will have to go through me!" her brother, Keanu, added smiling big. "Trust me, you'll be fine!"
Shi's mother laughed at her son's antics. "See Shi! Everything will be okay!" her mother consoled her.
Shi sniffled, "Okay, Mama," Then Shi took a seat at the table and began to eat her pancakes with a worrisome feeling growing in her belly. "What if the kids make fun of me for having bird wings instead of fairy wings!" She thought to herself. "Oh, what am I going to do!"
Shi got done with her pancakes and ran upstairs and into her bedroom and thought for a long time while sitting on her bed. "How am I going to get out of going to school?" Shi thought.
Just then an idea walked right into her brain. She popped right up from her bed. " I got it!" She declared. "I'll hide under my bed!" Then she got down on her knees and wiggled under her bed. "It's pretty dusty under here." She sneezed.
"Shi! Where are you? The bus'll be here any moment!" Keanu called out. "We don't have time for this." He peeked into her room. "Shi? You in here?"
"ACHOO!" Keanu heard a sneeze from under the bed. He giggled softly. "Hmmm, I wonder where Shi could be?" He kneeled down next to the bed and lifted up the sheet. There was Shi. Staring back at him with dust all over her face.
"No fair!" she cried.
They both got up and sat on her bed. "C'mon Shi! School isn't that bad!" Her brother giggled.
"But I have funny-looking wings!" Shi muttered.
"That doesn't mean anything! I have the same wings as you and I never got picked on!"
"That's probably because of your cooler than me."
Keanu smiled gently at his younger sister. "Listen, Shi! Your gonna be fine!" He hugged her. "Now you better get changed because the bus'll be here any moment!"
