Learning with Technology

I used to think that technology was no good when it came down to incorporating it into a classroom because it would cause distraction and mean that students would spend even more time on a screen. Now I think that I should incorporate technology in my classroom because it engages students, creates active learners, encourages peer collaboration, and prepares students for the real world. Now, I can see myself incorporating technology to most of my lessons because I want to ensure that I am providing my students with meaningful learning experiences because all students learn differently. I plan to incorporate technology form delivering instruction using different digital tools to having students use various digital apps or websites to deliver their opinions to the rest of the class.
Productivity Tools
I used to think that learning how to use G Suite tools ( Google Docs, Slides, Sheets and Forms) was useless for younger students and only older students like high schoolers and college students should know how to use those tools. I use to think that google sheets was hard to use and that I would never get the hang of it because it was simply "too tech" for me. Now I think that using these tools can give students different creative ways to complete classroom assignments which is convenient for them and their teachers because they can login from different devices. There tools are easy to use and manageable for younger students to use as well! I can incorporate using google slides by presenting my students information or students doing project presentations. Google sheets is great for inputting students' grades and keeping your classroom organized. Students can use google docs peer-reviewing/editing and create their own papers regarding different topics and I can use google forms to create quizzes for assessment purposes.
Digital Organization
I used to think that digital organization was simply learning how to organize files and that was it. Now I think digital organization is about organizing information/resources/files that you may need later throughout your life onto a web page for easier access and sharing. This is extremely important for teachers because they are always learning about different online resources throughout their teaching careers and it valuable that we learn how to organize our sources. It gives us the opportunity to go back to any site we are needing and grab ideas from them for our lessons. I will be definitely use Pinterest in career because now I am familiar with it and know how to save information on their that can be beneficial for my future classroom. Pinterest was hard to figure out at first but now I am able to function it.
I used to know the little significance of why learning about those topics were important but now I know and understand the huge impact technology has on student lives. Now that I know the gravity of the situation, I am going to make sure my future students are aware of the consequences that technology comes with and how to be safe online especially in our generation. I would hate for any of my students to go through cyberbullying or come across any privacy safety issues so I will make sure they complete the digital citizenship passport assignment and complete all sections. I think it is important for teachers to be aware of these issues and take action whenever they see or hear issues regarding cyberbullying in their classroom. It is also their responsibility to educate parents of this issue and about signs that may appear in their child's behavior if they are victims or perpetrators.

Tool Time
I used to not know anything about different technology genres; I did not even know technology had genres. Now I know that technology has different genres and I know how to design and develop learning experiences that incorporate different digital tools to promote student learning and creativity. For example, I am creating this storybook (story genre) to inform my audience of everything I have learned throughout the semester.
