To the goated APES teacher Mr. Foster

Turdy Timmy
Turdy Timmy begins his journey when he gets released into the toilet and begins his travel into the pipes. In this home they are on a sewer system so Turdy Timmy begins his journey to the water treatment facility.

Screening
When timmy gets to the water treatment facility, him and all the other wastewater get screened to remove all large non organic items.
Timmy is able to make it thorugh this stage and continues on through the treatment facility.

Settling Tank
Timmy has now made it to the settling tank where solids like turdy timmy sink to the bottom and sepertae from the liquid to form sludge
Grease, oils, and other fatty substances float to the top of the waste water and get skimmed off.

Where does the Sludge go?
Timmy along with the rest of the sludge can have a variety of fates from here including being digested by bacteria, getting turned into fertilizer, or getting buried in landfills.
In Timmy's case he will get turned into fertilizer that can be used to grow new crops and be used to help feed people.

Story of the Septic Tank
On a septic system, Timmy goes right out into a septic tank in the backyard. It's very similar to a settling tank at a water treatment facility. So Turdy Timmy goes on to sink to the bottom of it and begins to form a sludge with the other solids.

Once it gets pumped out he again gets turned into fertilizer that will help grow crops that will feed more people.
Where does Timmy go?
Timmy sits there for years until after to much solid has built up that it gets manually pumped out.

Greasy Gary
Turdy Timmy had a roller-coaster of a journey! Let's take a look at his friend Greasy Gary. Greasy Gary's journey begins when he’s washed down the kitchen sink with some soap and hot water. Off to an adventure he goes!
Greasy Gary slides through the pipes. Some homes send waste to big treatment plants... others, like country houses, send it to a septic tank in the backyard.

Greasy Gary cools down and hardens inside the pipes. If too much grease builds up it can cause clogs and fatbergs

Oops... maybe I shouldn’t be here!
Greasy Gary finally makes it to the Treatment facility. This is where he first goes through a screening process where Greasy Gary is filtered. Then, Sand and tiny rocks are settled out. Later, Greasy Gary floats to the top, and heavy sludge sinks to the bottom

In the Secondary Treatment, billions of bacteria eat up the waste! They break down Greasy Gary into harmless bits.

Nom nom! We love grease!
If waste like Greasy isn’t cleaned properly, bad things can happen... This is what happened to Greasy Gary after not being cleaned properly.
Polluted Water: Dirty water can flow into rivers, harming fish and animals.
Clogged Pipes: Greasy blobs cause sewer backups and stinky messes in the streets!
Sick Environments: Chemicals and fats hurt plants, soil, and drinking water
