Simone Biles was born on March 14, 1997, in Columbus, Ohio. And, later on she moved to Spring, Texas, which was where she grew up. She was also adopted by her grandparents, Ron and Nellie Biles, when she was liitle.

When Simone was six years old, she went on a field trip to a gym and saw other girls doing flips in the air and walking across a balance beam. At that moment, Simone knew she wanted to be a gymnast.

When Simone was little she began taking gymnastics classes. She worked with a coach named coach Aimee Boorman. 

Simone was a very hard worker. She was also determined to make it to the next level. Whenever she fell, she got right back up and kept on going. And, she didn't stop until she accomplished her goal. 

Now, that's what you call tenacity and bravery!!!  When Simone kept on falling down, she kept getting back up until she felt like she was strong enough to move on to the next step.

As Simone Biles started to get more and more into gymnastics, she started competing at gymnastics meets. Whenever she competed she had great power and skills.

In 2012, Simone won the vault event at the U.S. National Gymnastics Championships. She also competed on the balance beam at the 2012 nationals.

SSimone is just 4 feet 8 inches tall (1.4m).

In 2012, at a U.S. meet, Simone fell off the balance beam- twice. When that happened, she got so upset that she almost quit gymnastics. But, she decided to stick with the sport that she loved.

Later on, she won the all-around World Championship! Simone was the first African American to earn that title.

balance beam

beam

floor exercise

vault& uneven bars

As Simone continued to train every day, she realized that hard work really paid off if you put in enough effort.
