
This book is dedicated to young athletes who look up to Simone Biles and want to achieve big dreams that seem impossible. When Simone was younger, she had no idea that she would be where she is today. She continues to show her determination and resilience. Young athletes dream of going far with their sports, and Simone Biles is an amazing example of how working hard and not giving up can achieve that.

When Simone was a little girl, life wasn't always easy. She didn't start as the gymnast people know today.
Simone was born in Columbus, Ohio, on March 14,1997.
Simone is the third of four siblings. Their mother, Shannon Biles, was unable to take care of them.
Simone and her siblings, Adria, Ashley, and Tevin lived in foster care. They moved from home to home for three years straight. They would spend cold and rainy nights without a permanent home.
After three long years of foster care, Simone and Adria were adopted by their grandparents and moved to Texas. While Ashley and Tevin were adopted by their great-aunt, and stayed in Ohio.
Simone felt a touch of warmth and safety at her grandparents house.
When Simone was six years old, her grandma signed her up for gymnastics. The gym was bright and loud. The moment she stepped in there, she felt at home.
Simone flipped and danced beautifully. Simone's routines were flawless and had many emotions attached to them.
Simone had a natural talent from the first day she walked in the gym.
Simone began to grow relationships with her coaches. Simone's coaches saw a bright and successful future ahead of her.
When Simone first started competing, she was already winning medals. Her hard work paid off, and this was only the beginning.
Simone would practice hours on end. No matter how tired her body was, she showed up everyday. Her hard work continued to pay off.
Simone was competing level 10 and 11 skills at the age of 12. She was considered for the Olympics, but was too young to compete in them. This only made Simone work harder.
Simone was the first female since 1974 to earn four gold medals at the World Championship in 2014.
All her hard work paid off when she made the USA gymnastics team for the 2016 Olympics.
In Rio, Simone shocked the world with her talent.
The arena was filled. The crowd was roaring, constantly cheering and clapping after every move.
While in Rio, Simone competed her signature skill, "The Biles." The crowd watched her attempt a double layout, and a half-twist. Then boom. She landed the flip.
Simone won four gold medals and one bronze in 2016. This was Simones first Olympics, and she filled the room with excitement.
Simone's competitors statistics show that the athletes would compete an easier routine to avoid mistakes while going against Simone.
After Rio, she started training for the next big event...
Tokyo 2020.
The Tokyo 2020 Olympics were held in Tokyo Japan, the first gymnastics event took place on July 24, 2021.
The games were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Simone competed in the vault in Tokyo, but after a difficult fall she removed herself from the competition team. This is when the world first heard of her struggles.
