I am dedicating this book to all children and their families that I had the honor of working with over the years. They have helped me to grow in so many ways, without them Iwould not be the teacher that I am today.

This sweet little girl is named Jessica. She waiting to get to her Learning Center so she can hang out and play with her friends. If Jessica only knew how playing helps to develop and reach her developmental Milestone. Lets take look at how playing helps her cognative and language skills. Let us take a look at Jessica's day in the infant room.
Jessica's day is pretty simple but we have a lot of fun with her. Jessica arrives around 7:00 am. We take her and talk with mom to see how her night was or if there is anything that we need to watch for. The first thing we do after talking with the parent we check her to see if she needs changing. Then we put her on a playmat on the floor so she play while we finish feeding the other babies. When we are all done we do different group things so Jessica can do tummy time or sit up with support and play with musical instruments and listen to stories. After a fun morning of play and having been sitting Jessica will be changed and given a bottle before taking her nap.
After her nap, we will go outside. If one of the kids is sleeping we will take out half of the class first and then come in and get the other half. We put them on a blanket and we have toys for them to play with. But sometimes we take walks around the block. Jessica loves outside time. She likes to crawl around and explore everything. By the time we go in it's time for lunch. Everyone gets changed and those who can sit up alone go in the high chairs and the ones that can not go in a bouncer to get a little bit of cereal and a bottle. We play and make faces while they eat. It helps to keep them happy so they eat good before nap.
Jessica goes home at 3:00 pm so when she gets up we try and do some one one time with her so we can work on some developmental skills like having her sit up or doing tummy time and see if she can push up on her arms. We also work on fine motor and try to have her reach for toys. we even talk with her and try to get her to laugh. We try to give the kids a good learning experience while they play. As they play they do not realize how much they are working on their developmental skills.I really enjoy working on their skills. Making them laugh is fun because they have cute laughs. Now we will talk about some of the cognitive and language skills they should be at by a cetain age.
Let's take a look at some of cognative skills that Jessica will develop as an infant.
Let us start with Jessica being 2 months; This is ane age where Jessica is so young that the most she does is watch everyone walk around her. While that is not much from what we can see Jessica takes it all in and starts to work on getting stronger. Tummy Time is a great way to get to streghtin her gross motor skills. The more more she is on her tummy the stronger her neck and arms will get. This would be a good activity to do while playing with the olders infants on the floor.
