

THE ELEMENTS OF DANCE:
- BODY: The human body we live in and control. It is our "instrument" of dance.
- ACTION: The way we move our body, the movements we make. it is controlled movement that is intentionally made.
- SPACE: The space around us that we take up and interact with. This involves the space in front, behind, and to the sides of us, and also Includes high, medium and low levels of space as well.




- TEMPO: The counting and time that helps us know when to move, it can vary in speed and counts.
- ENERGY: The certain way we move around that gives off a certain vibe hence "energy". This includes different action movements (fast, slow, sharp, gentle, etc…) and even facial expressions. In simple terms it describes how the dancer is moving.
- RELATIONSHIP: How we move and interact with other dancers in group unison or in partners etc.

- A dancer's material are the following: Body, Torso, Arms, Legs, Hands, Feet, Fingers, Head, Face
What can a dancer create with their bodies and can dancers create these things with other dancers?
- Individually, dancers can create different lines, shapes, and forms with their bodies and can do so in a group as well.

- Action consists of Locomotor and non-locomotor movements.

-Locomotor movement includes movement outside your initial space.
- Non-Locomotor movement involves movement while staying in your initial space.
What are examples of each category?
- Locomotor movement: Running around, walking backwards, skipping forwards, etc.
- Non-Locomotor movement: Spinning in place, waving your arms, stretching upwards etc.
