The animals from Africa are very interesting creatures! There is purpose of all forms of life on this earth. Lets learn about the amazing animals of Africa
Elephants!
African elephants are the largest animals walking the Earth. They are easily recognized by their trunk that is used for communication and handling objects. African elephants inhabit a diverse array of habitats including tropical forests, savannas, grasslands, and woodlands. Elephants are known as mammals. Elephants are also known as being herbivores which means they eat grass. They came in as a group called a herd. Elephants can live up to 70 years. They can be up to 13 feet tall and weigh 2.5 to 7 tons.!

Lions!
African lions once roamed most of Africa and parts of Asia and Europe. But the species has disappeared from 94 percent of its historic range and can only be found today in parts of sub-Saharan Africa. For all of their roaring, growling, and ferociousness, lions are family animals and truly social in their own communities. They usually live in groups of 15 or more animals called prides. Lions are known as mammals. they are carnivores which means they eat meat. Plus they can weigh up to 240 pounds!

- Lions hunt a lot at night and hunt during storms
- Lions can get their water from plants an example would be the Tsamma melon
- Lion cubs are rear the lionesses rear their cubs together and cubs can suckle from any female with milk.
- These manes grow up to 16cm long and are a sign of dominance.
- Young lions have rosettes and spots on their sandy coats, but they go away
Zebras!
The plains Zebra is the one you know best because it is the one you most commonly see. It has the black and white stripes that are the same as the Zebra. They live on the grasslands of the eastern and southern parts of Africa. The Plains Zebra is the smaller of all the species. They are can be 3.5 to 5 feet tall and weigh close to 1000 pounds. They can run up to 35 miles per hour and kick really hard. They alert each other with a sharp noise when there is a predator around.
