The Final Showdown
By: Matthew Figueroa
Chapter 1: The Recap
*CRASHHH* *SCREAMING* *BOOM!*There was so much noise going around me. I kept running down the aisle I turned around and saw… wait, let me tell you what is going on here first. I don't know why I am writing this book because there are probably very few people still on this planet including my friends, but just in case there's somebody out there. Let me tell you what is going on here,
and I’m Alex by the way and I am in 5th grade. It was a normal day on June 18, 2046 and it was the last day of school. My friends, Julian, Riley, Matthew, Willem, and Jiawen were all excited, well not Jiawen too much he actually likes school, math to be specific. Anyway as class was going on I heard a strange noise coming from outside. I looked out and I saw… “Excuse me Alex, can you please pay attention…” My teacher Ms. Carrie called my name before I got to see it, bummer. “I know it is the last day of school and you're all excited but…” Jiawen cuts off Mrs. Carrie. “I'm not excited about leaving school, I really like it.” he says. Everyone in the class either said boo or weirdo to Jiawen but Jiawen doesn’t care too much. *The bell rings* Mrs. Carrie shouted, “Lunchtime everybody!” Everyone is excited to be out of that class and runs out the door.
Chapter 2: The Crash
My and I headed to the Lunch room immediately and sat in our usual spot. It was the best day ever because they had everyone's favorite, PIZZA! (Except Jiawen because he likes macaroni & cheese.) The whole group was going crazy even though we had pizza pretty often but still, it was really good. I got up and rushed to the line. I could smell the cheese on the pizza and it smelled delicious, I licked my lips. I was handed the pizza and it looked amazing. I took a bite and the cheese was coming off the pizza, that is how cheesy it was. I went for the next bite and before I could bite it the ground started to shake. I looked outside the window and I saw something I could not believe. It was a meteor and was
going to strike close to us. I warned my friends. Before we got to the exit… *BAM* *BOOM* *CRASH* I was thrown back against the wall and so were all my friends. I looked up and my vision was blurry. When it landed, roots started coming out of the ground covering everything. I saw the meteor open up and inside it was some kind of alien creature. When“Umm, guys, there is a low chance that THING is nice.” Said Jiawen. My vision cleared up a bit and I could see more clearly. I looked at my friends, they were in shock too. It was an alien but not any ordinary alien, it was the alien from my super super rare comic book called “Mission 6543.” We were all in shock and looked at each other. “Is this real?” Matthew said. “I… don’t know, IT’S THE ALIEN FROM MISSION 6543, THE SUPER RARE COMIC BOOK YOU HAVE ALEX!!” said Riley. “No way…” I said. “Anyways, we have way more important
things to be worrying about, I mean like, how there is an ALIEN in front of us, right?” I said. They gave me a whatever look. We got up and just stared at the figure. “Umm… Why are we just staring at it?” said Willem. No one responded. “You're right. We are dirty and I wanna leave this school before I die so I am going right past this Alien.” said Willem. Willem is brave but can be a bit dumb sometimes. *Willem clears throat* “Excuse me Mr. Alien I am just gonna walk by alr ....” *Alien Chokes Willem* “WILLEM!” Everyone says. *CRASH* The Alien throws Willem across the cafeteria. *Willem Grunts* The Alien throws me farther than anyone else. Well it makes sense because in the comic he has super strength. He threw me at least 5 blocks away from the school but I landed on a trampoline, so it didn’t hurt as much. I was lost. It was hard to see with all the smoke from
the meteor landing. “Willem, Riley, Matthew, Julian!” I shouted but I didn’t get a response. I was lost.
Chapter 3: Alone
I walked and walked and walked, calling my friends names but it was no use. The smoke cleared up. I saw the school at least 5 blocks away. I ran towards the school. As I ran I thought “I hope my friends are okay.” I ran as fast I could and I saw the school way better. I arrived at the school and it was torn up. The electricity lines were sparking. There were massive openings in the school and everything was pretty much destroyed. I yelled for my friends’ names. There was no response. I decided to go through the aisle on Main Street since it seemed the safest. All of a sudden I heard a countdown. “5, 4, 3, 2, 1,” *CRASHHH* *SCREAMING*
*BOOM!* Another meteor struck the earth. I decided to go to the aisle on Main street. As I was running down the aisle I heard footsteps behind me. I turned around and I saw something walking towards me. It was limping and dragging its feet towards me. It had a hunched back and was making some kind of groaning noise and I could see drools dropping from its mouth. Immediately, I thought of the Comic Mission 6543 and I remembered there were also mysterious creatures called the walkers but we didn’t get to know too much about them or see them because the next Issue comes out next week. As the figure walked in some light I realized it was a walker. They eat people and can die but it is hard to kill them. I ran down the aisle towards Flounder Street. When I reached Flounder Street, it was full of walkers. I was doomed.
Chapter 4: The Reunion
As I said my last goodbyes, the most amazing thing in the world happened. I heard some kind of stabbing sound near the aisle and I saw my friends! “GUYS!” They smiled and ran towards me. I gave them all a big hug. “Are you guys ok?” I said. “For the most part, yea.” said Julian. “Uh… Guys…” said Willem. “I think we have more important things to be worrying about like this whole army of walkers.” We all stared at them. “Okay, so we can just turn around.” I said. We turned around and there were walkers coming down the aisle. “Oh no.” I said. “Okay so now what?” said Riley. “We could climb up these buildings.” I said. They gave me a look. “It’s our only option.” I said. “It’s true it is our only option,”
said Jiawen, but I could tell that he didn’t really think that. We climbed up. We can hear all the monsters growling. All of a sudden another meteor struck the earth. We were all pushed back. Julian fell and is now hanging on to the edge of the building. “AHH!!!” said Julian. “GUYS PLEASE…HELP.” My friends tried to pull him up but he was too heavy. Julian slipped and fell in the aisle. “JULIAN !!” We all shouted. But as he fell, he tried to climb back up, but it was no use. He had used up so much energy, so he slipped, and I never thought I would see him again. We lost one of our friends.
Chapter 5: Frida
As the night came, we walked into the unknown and didn’t say a word to each other. We were all sad that we lost our
friend, Julian. “Why did he have to go like this?” Willem said. There was no response. We had no place to sleep. As we entered the town of Bloomsburg, We came across a mansion. “Hey, look over there!” said Riley. We all looked and saw that massive mansion. We all gasped. We decided to go into the mansion. We knocked first. “Hello, is anyone here?” I said. The door flung open. At first I couldn’t see the woman because it was dark in the house, but she stepped closer and then we realized it was one of our classmates from school, Frida. “FRIDA !!” we all said. “Hi, how can I help you?” she said. We were all shocked to see her. “How are…??” said Riley. She invited us inside for some food. We were all hungry so we said yes. “So, how did you geeks survive this and where is Julian?” We all looked down at the floor. “Oh, well I’m sorry to hear that.” she said. “It’s fine, we still have
hope he is out there somewhere.” I said. “We didn’t exactly see him die,” Willem continued. “We just saw him fall into the zombies. After that he just ran away.” he said. Frida had a sad look on her face. “Anyway, I think we are going to go now.” I said. My friends nodded. “Wait!” Frida said. “Can I come with you? I have a bunch of guns and armor in my basement so we can be prepared to fight if we have too.” We all looked at each other and nodded. “Let’s do this!” We all shouted. We ran down the stairs into the basement. But… “Where is all the stuff?” Asked Willem. “Duhh,” Frida said. “It’s here.” She pointed to a wall. We all squinted and stared at the wall. There was nothing but bricks. Except there was a red brick, out in the open not blending in with the gray bricks. Frida knocked on the red brick. Then, a secret passage opened. We all said, “Ooh,” and “Ahh!!”. There was
TONS of good stuff. Hard cash, steel armor. Then, our faces (not including Frida) drooped. EVERYTHING WAS PINK AND PURPLE. I HATED IT. Only Matthew from our group was glad. Sometimes, he acts like a girl.
Chapter 6: War
“We don’t like the colors pink and purple.” We all said. “Hmmmm…” Frida thought. “I DO have paint spray.” YES SIR!!! We all took a bottle of paint spray and we all chose a set of armor. After all the painting, I thought Jiawen’s set of armor looked the best since he draws so well and he is a good artist. Then, we chose weapons. They were all gray,
blue and red. Just the way we all liked it. He each grabbed 95 packs of ammo for our guns. We chose katanas, swords, knives, and a pistol. We were ready. As we got out of the basement, I saw something in the corner of my eye. It had a scyce and was wearing a green robe. It had no face. But it had a mouth. It smiled. Wide. I could see all of its teeth. But when I blinked, it was gone. I shook my head and got my mind back on track. But I had so many questions. What was that thing? How did it get here? Why did it look right at me? How could it disappear when I blink? I ignored my questions and saved them for later. As we exited the mansion, there were THOUSANDS of walkers. “ATTACK!!!!” We all shouted. Everything was crazy. Bullets shot everywhere, knives and other weapons were flying in the air. Body pieces from the walkers flew in the air as well. I saw some scratches on my
armor but I was fine. After a couple of hours, we defeated the army. “LETS GOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!” I shouted. But when we hi-fived, we didn’t see Frida. But we saw her pink armor on the floor. There was a trail of blood starting from the armor. We all stared at each other. “Should we save her?” I asked. “Your choice.” Said Matthew. “Cause you are the leader of the army since you have the super rare comic.” Said Riley. I couldn’t resist losing another one of our classmates. So I said, “Let’s do it.” The rest of us nodded and we ran, following the trail of blood.
Chapter 7: The Basement.
As we walked and followed the trail, the blood
started to get brighter meaning that Frida or whoever's blood this is is close.
“LOOK!” I said. My friends looked up from looking at the ground following the trail. In front of us was just a basement. No doors, no walls, no nothing. The blood led towards the basement going underground. We all looked at each other and nodded. We walked towards the basement about to enter, but all of a sudden the figure with the green robe and no face with a smile appeared at the corner of my eye. I blinked and the figure disappeared. I thought,
Again? What is that? Why is it appearing to me? Can the others see it? “Hey!” yelled Willem. “You okay?” My
friends all looked at me. “Yeah,” I said. “I'm fine. Let’s just go into the basement.” Now my friends might be suspicious. As we walked down the basement, there were lights leading through a long tunnel. The lights flickered. “Ok,” Matthew said. “Let’s do this!” We continued to follow the blood trails. As we walked a little more, we could hear a girl stepping in puddles a little overhead. We ran towards it. The girl's groans started to grow louder until we could see a shadow. “Frida!!” I called. There was no answer. As we walked more I heard more grunts. Frida was there. “FRIDA!” we shouted. We turned her around and she was dead. Her eyes sucked out, her bones were cracked, and she
was floating up. We all were shocked. “Who…” I continued. “Who could’ve done this?!” My friends shrugged. All of a sudden we heard an evil giggle. We looked at where it was coming from and saw Julian staring right at us giggling still with red glowing eyes. We all gasped. "Uhh," Willem said. "We should go now!" he said. We all started running towards the way we came in. As we ran, Julian was right behind us fast walking and giggling. As we saw the light from the exit, the door started to close. We all ran as fast as we could. We were all panting. I made it through the door first, then Willem, then Riley, then Matthew.
Julian ran towards us until the door slammed shut.
We were all relieved and kept panting. "OH NO!," said Matthew. "LOOK!!!"....
