For Mr. Regalado's Core Class

My name is Samarth. I used to live in a manor apart from here many days ago. As some of you may know, I was a clergy or member of the church. Even if life wasn't always enjoyable or easy, I gave it my all. There were numerous prayers and other things that I had to repeat. Up until that bright, sunny morning, life was good. “We demand freedom, freedom, freedom! The uproar cried out, "We want freedom!" To get a better view, I went outside. I immediately went back inside after stepping outdoors and shut the door.

"The serfs and peasants are revolting." I thought to myself. I had to be secure. I would be the next to be attacked if the Lord and Lady were! I had to prevent this from occurring. But I was just a Clergy. What could I do? I had to find a way to the Lord as fast as possible. I quickly ran out the back exit and snuck into the castle. I ran up flights of stairs like the wind, but I eventually ran out of breath as I reached the top. I went to the Throne Room to find that Lord Rohith wasn’t there. I immediately started to panic. I decided to find Sir Jeremy. Maybe he knew where the Lord went.

“Lord Rohith! Sir Jeremy! Can you hear me?” I yelled. Just as I was about to rage quit, I saw some movement on the balcony. I stormed to the balcony. As I went in there, I saw Lord Rohith and Sir Jeremy worried in front of the chaos. "Now everyone, calm down. I am sure we can figure something out." Lord Rohith yelled. "Oh, thank God you're here. Clergy, what can we do?" The Lord said anxiously. “What did you do?” I said, looking suspiciously at him. “Well, I didn’t give the peasants food because I needed to have a feast,” Lord Rohith stammered. “You want a feast? While all those people are starving? Well, of course, they are going to revolt against you!‘ I yelled.

“Why are you blaming me? The Mongols are coming over. I invited them over to make a truce,” Rohith tried to explain. “You fool! You want to have a truce? With the Mongols! Oh please, the audacity,” I said, somewhat between ordering and hollering. “Don’t worry!” I said. Everyone fell silent. “Everyone will get their pending ration of food.” The crowd cheered. The Lord glared at me. He was upset about it, but he knew that it was better than losing his role as Lord. The Lord went inside the Throne Room, so I followed. “NOW WHAT? WHAT ABOUT THE MONGOLS?” He yelled. That was true. They were still coming over. Perhaps, we needed to do something else.
“Well, just tell them that w-”, I said, about to finish my sentence, when he cut me off.
“The Mongols are very aggressive! As for my concern, we are only in great danger now,” Lord Rohith said. He was right. I knew how dangerous the Mongols were. If we denied something which we set up, they would be extremely upset. They might even make war with us. My biggest concern is that the Lord would let someone else be the clergy and make me a peasant. Maybe I shouldn’t have gone up there. I decided to do some more prayers throughout the days, to get my mind off of things. For now, I need to sleep.
For the next couple of days, everything went somewhat fine. I went on about my normal routine with eating, prayers, cooking, reciting more prayers, and other stuff. It only occurred to me that night that I knew what was wrong. Of course! The Mongols! The Feast! How stupid could I have been! I had to tell the Lord the next morning. The next morning, I did my first prayers and went to the Castle. As I ran up the stairs again, I really started to consider working out from here on out.

“Lord, Lord,” I barely managed to babble out of my mouth. The Lord glared at me again. Clearly, I could tell that he was furious. I felt like I should have run out of there instantly. “Get out of here, NOW!” The Lord yelled, absolutely enraged. “B-B-But-” I stuttered. “You have declined the possible truce with the Mongols, why are you here, Clergyman?” He said, no longer mad but somewhat depressed. I could understand why he was depressed and angry. He tried to do good for the empire, but he was falling into a trap. “I’m here, so I can save our Manor,” I said boldly. The king looked at me as if I were delirious.
“No, like actually, I can save the Manor from the Mongols,” I explained “The Mongols didn’t accept your truce for an actual truce, they did it so they can make everyone sick. They are trying to spread the Black Death, a dangerous disease that will kill everyone!” I protested. The king still looked unconvinced. “It is spread by infected fleas that are on rodents," I said. The next day, I went out into the fields and alerted the peasants and serfs. I told them about the whole situation and that they should barricade their houses as much as possible. They had 5 days until the Mongols were supposed to come. I mentioned to them the rodent situation, so they kept alert for any rodents near their house. I also warned the knights right away.

“Sir Jeremy, Sir Jeremy,” I called out. I spotted him behind the corner of a building. “Sir Jeremy, I have bad news,” I said, thinking that I could have said something better than that. “What is it, Clergy,” Sir Jeremy said as alert as a rooster at dawn. “Sir, you remember how the Mongols were coming over to make a truce? Yeah, they aren’t. They are trying to spread a dangerous disease to our people through rats. Tell your army about this, and make sure they are alert for any newcomers,” I said, wondering how he kept his armor so shiny. “Hmm.., fine. I’ll tell my army,” He said in a somewhat grumpy mood. He had watched last night, so the grumpiness explained how tired he was. In the meantime, I decided to barricade parts of the church, but the entrance would still be open to any people in the manor. I was definitely not an expert in filling up cracks and holes, but I tried my best to fill up most of the cracks. It was a tiring job, but as long as I was safe, I was happy.

The next day was, luckily, harvesting day! It was great for everyone because 1. We would get more food to eat! And 2. The Mongols wouldn’t come until 3 days! The Nobles distributed the food amongst everyone, with more for themselves. I got some vegetables, steak, bread, and some fresh milk from the cows. That night, all of the church officials had a feast. We met up in one of the buildings within the church and ate. “Are you sure that the Mongols are coming to spread the disease?” An official asked. He and the other officials still weren’t so sure about it.“Yes, you have to believe me, the Mongols have a disease, and many traders that have come to us have told us about it. Not just one, but a good 8 traders!” I exclaimed. I had the evidence, so they had to believe me now. “Ok, let's worry about that later. Right now, let's eat our food,” another official said, trying to switch the topic. We ate the steak and bread first, which was amazing, then the salad and milk. We were stuffed to the top of our stomachs.
