As we hike on through the Icy Mountains, the
only things I can think about are my frozen
feet. I try to push that thought from my mind
as it is not important. The knights, Dawain the
Elf, and I catching Gorzath is what is important.
Gorzath is an evil wizard who stole the Staff of
Zafa. The staff, which keeps the peace in our
kingdom, is very critical, and, without it, the
kingdom has exploded with fighting. We need
to find the staff and restore balance to the
kingdom before it is too late.

We sit huddled by the fire wrapped in anything
we can find. It is bitterly cold in the Icy
Mountains. We have tried everything we can
to keep warm, but nothing works. I even try a
heat charm, but even magic won’t keep us
warm here. I’m going to sleep now for I sense
we have a big day ahead of us.

We have been trudging on for what seems like days. As we
come over a ridge, I instantly duck back down. There are
dragon minions! They are the minions of Gorzath. As soon as
the knights see them, they charge. “Let’s get ’em!” one yells.
“Wait!” I yell back, but, it is too late. I hate it when the
knights do that! They always rush into battle without thinking
first. Soon after, Dawain and I join them. He rushes in first
with each arrow striking down another dragon. I use
something a little more advanced. As I conjure my powers, I
feel stronger. My hands begin to glow, and, with a mighty
roar, a bolt of lightning shoots out of the sky. The lightning
bolt cuts through the minion ranks like a sharp knife through
butter. I yell to my helpers, “I’ll go ahead. You guys stay
here and fight them!” They nod with approval as I sprint
toward the cave ahead.

I slowly step through the cave until I find a grand room filled
with many smaller doors. I see one with a glowing light coming from
behind it. Only the Staff of Zafa could produce such a brilliant light! I
kick down the door, and there standing in front of me is Gorzath. He
sensed my presence before I even arrived. “I’m glad you could make
it,” he says with a voice as cold as ice. “You will now die!” He swings
around and shoots fire at me. I leap to the side and throw ice back at
him. He swats it aside like a kitten playing with yarn. I choose a
different spell next. Lightning! Our spells meet in the middle. They
form a giant ball of energy. When it explodes, Gorzath stands there
as if it is a gentle breeze. I, however, am blown to the ground and
forced back against the wall. He walks up and puts one foot on my
chest. I see this as my chance. He is overconfident! Before he can
react, I raise my hand and shoot a bolt of lightning into his chest. His
lifeless body falls into the lava below.

The ground begins to shake beneath me. I have to
get out of here! I summon the staff, and it flies
into my hands. I sprint out of the cave and dive
behind a rock just as lava engulfs the cave. The
only thing saving me from death is the magic
barrier I cast as I exited, sealing the lava inside.
As I stand up, I notice the sun glinting off the staff.
Only at that moment do I realize how much the
kingdom will rejoice when the Staff of Zafa is
returned to its rightful owner!
