After learning about weather and their patterns, students will understand and explain how their solution can have a positive impact on the environment. What steps could you take to create a solution for a weather-related hazard. 

How can we, as a school community, reduce the drought currently happening in Utah? 

After learning about the drought in Utah and brainstorming ways they can reduce their own personal water use. Students will understand and explain how they can have a positive impact on the environment. What steps could you take in your life to decrease the drought in Utah and have a positive impact on the environment?

Students will create a Google Document to record how they reduced their water use that week/ways they will reduce their water use that week.s

How do magnetic devices solve solutions to scientific ideas?

3rd Grade: Standard 3.3.5: Design a solution to a problem in which a device functions by using scientific ideas about magnets.

After learning about magnets and devices that function using magnets, Students will be able to understand the role they often play in our society and how they work. When do you use magnets and how does this knowledge change your previous understanding?

Why are climate patterns different in different regions of the world? 

Science 3.1.2

After learning about climate patterns students will understand and explain how these patterns can be used to predict typical weather conditions. What different climate patterns have you seen where you live and why do you think it is different then somewhere else? 

Students will use a google document to show the information and data they have found to show the climate patterns can predict typical weather conditions. 

What are similar traits that can pass down from parent organisms to offspring?

Science Standard 3.2.2

After learning about patterns of traits that plants and animals have inherited from parents. Students will be able to emphasize the similarities and differences in traits between parent organisms and offspring and variation of traits in groups of similar organisms. They will understand how it connects to them in their life. What traits do you inherit from your parents?

How is electricity used in our school and why is it important?

Science Standard 3.3.4
Ask questions to plan and carry out an investigation to determine cause and effect relationships of electric or magnetic interactions between two objects not in contact with each other.

After learning about electricity students will be able to see how it is used in their classrooms. How can we save and condense our use of electricity and power so it is only used in specific and important ways in our school?
