Driving Question
How can we, as a school community, come up with a solution that reduces the effects of a weather-related hazard?
Subject(s)
Science Standard 3.1.3
Synopsis
After learning about weather and their patterns, students will understand and explain how their solution can have a positive impact on the environment. What steps could you take to create a solution for a weather-related hazard.
Technology Resources
Students will use Canva to make a flier about their weather-related solution
3rd Grade Weather Project-Based Learning

Driving Question
How can we, as a school community, reduce the drought currently happening in Utah?
Subject(s)
Science (3rd Grade) Standard 3.2.6
Synopsis
After learning about the drought in Utah and brainstorming ways they can reduce their own personal water use. Students will understand and explain how they can have a positive impact on the environment. What steps could you take in your life to decrease the drought in Utah and have a positive impact on the environment?
Technology Resources
Students will create a Google Document to record how they reduced their water use that week/ways they will reduce their water use that week.s

Driving Question
How do magnetic devices solve solutions to scientific ideas?
Subject(s)
3rd Grade: Standard 3.3.5: Design a solution to a problem in which a device functions by using scientific ideas about magnets.
Synopsis
After learning about magnets and devices that function using magnets, Students will be able to understand the role they often play in our society and how they work. When do you use magnets and how does this knowledge change your previous understanding?
Technology Resources
Students will use Adobe Create to make a video on their magnetic experiments
Driving Question
Why are climate patterns different in different regions of the world?
Subject(s)
Science 3.1.2
Synopsis
After learning about climate patterns students will understand and explain how these patterns can be used to predict typical weather conditions. What different climate patterns have you seen where you live and why do you think it is different then somewhere else?
Technology Resources
Students will use a google document to show the information and data they have found to show the climate patterns can predict typical weather conditions.
3rd Grade Weather Patterns Project-Based Learning
4th Grade Inherited Traits Project-Based Learning
Driving Question
What are similar traits that can pass down from parent organisms to offspring?
Subject(s)
Science Standard 3.2.2
Synopsis
After learning about patterns of traits that plants and animals have inherited from parents. Students will be able to emphasize the similarities and differences in traits between parent organisms and offspring and variation of traits in groups of similar organisms. They will understand how it connects to them in their life. What traits do you inherit from your parents?
Technology Resources
Students will create a Canva presentation about what traits they have inherited from their parents. If they don't want to do their family, they can choose an organism and the traits they can inherit/don't inherit.

Driving Question
How is electricity used in our school and why is it important?
Subject(s)
Science Standard 3.3.4
Ask questions to plan and carry out an investigation to determine cause and effect relationships of electric or magnetic interactions between two objects not in contact with each other.
Synopsis
After learning about electricity students will be able to see how it is used in their classrooms. How can we save and condense our use of electricity and power so it is only used in specific and important ways in our school?
Technology Resources
Students will record data of how often lights are on and computers are used each day in the classroom to see the significance of electricity and why we need it in our society.
It is important to provide innovative practices because they help the students understand it while interacting with each other and working on projects throughout the week that help them increase their understanding.
We have to think differently on how to incorporate technology into the classroom. When we are planning our lessons we just need to make sure that we find ways to apply technology. This way our lessons will improve and it will be beneficial for the students.
1. balance project based learning
2.Incorporate different skills with technology
3. Use technology in daily centers
4. Use technology to present students achievements.
5. Use technology to introduce new topics
