
Thrown off the train (1893 South Africa)
Gandhi was going to South Africa on a train in 1893. They wouldn't let him stay in first class even though he had a first class ticket because they considered him black. He got thrown off the train eventually for refusing to move his seat.

Burning of the Passes
In 1908 Indians were expected to carry a pass but they refused so the British decided to burn the passes. The people who protested got arrested by the British. Gandhi tried to keep burning the passes and got badly beaten.

State of India/living in an ashram/poverty in India, 1915- 1918
Gandhi goes to India to see what state it is in and eventually builds an Ashram. He starts to realize that he would not like to be controlled by the British anymore and this is when he starts to change and help. He also comes and sees all the poverty in India and all the children who are barely alive.

Day of prayer and fasting/general strike/ /Amritsar Massacre, 1919
Gandhi decides to have a day of fasting. The Indians have to grow Indigo for money and pay for rent but people keep buying Indigo from England. The British are mad that Gandhi and all the Indians decide to strike so they throw Gandhi in jail. The new rule is that no one is allowed to protest anymore. The Indians aren't aware of that rule and end up getting killed. There are 1516 casualties as a result of the massacre.

Protesters police killed Gandhi's fast (1921)
Police men were killed because people were protesting. The police realized they were out numbered but by then it was too late. After the police were killed Gandhi went on a fast to stop the Indians from marching.

March to the sea, salt tax, raid on Dharasana salt works (1930)
Gandhi marched to the sea in order to make his own salt because the British were taxing the Indians. He arrived at the sea on the anniversary of the massacre of Amritsar. As he marched more and more people joined him in the march. When they raided the salt works they weren't allowed in so every time they stepped up to go in they got beat by the British.
