Born on March 30, 1432 and died on May 3, 1481, he is the seventh sultan of the Ottoman Empire. His name is mentioned as Muhammad in historical sources. He ruled for a short period between 1444-46, then for 30 years from 1451 until his death in 1481
Who is Fatih Sultan Mehmet?
His father appointed various teachers for the education of Mehmed. However, it was not easy to educate Mehmed, who was a vicious child as he was smart. Finally, his father appointed Molla Gürani, an imposing and authoritative scholar. According to the story, Murad gave Gürani a staff and told him to use it if Mehmed disobeyed. Molla Gürani had Mehmed examined a literary sentence about a student who ignored his lesson being beaten by his teacher, and Mehmed realized the seriousness of the situation and started to give importance to his education.

The news came from Amasya that Şehzade Ali died. With the death of his brother, Mehmet became the new heir to the throne. Murat 2. Peace was made with Hungary with the Edirne-Segedin Treaty.

In 1444, Murat II left the throne to his son Mehmet. Mehmet ascended the throne at the age of 12. Çandarlı Halil Pasha and some statesmen objected to this situation, but Murat 2 did not accept it. The Hungarians broke the treaty and began preparations for war. Thereupon, Fatih sent two letters to some statesmen and his father, Murat II. In the second of these, he said these famous words to his father:
“If you are a sultan, come and command your armies; No, if we are the sultan, obey our order and lead our armies!”

Upon this letter, Murat II ascended the Ottoman throne again. The Battle of Varna took place on November 9, 1444. At the end of the war, the Crusaders were defeated. Mehmet II, who remained on the throne until 1446, left the throne to Murat II after the developments. In the same year, he was reassigned to the Manisa Sanjakbeylik.

II Murat died on February 3, 1451. Mehmet received the news of his father's death in a letter sent by the Grand Vizier Halil Pasha to Manisa by a special messenger.
According to the narrative, Fatih Sultan Mehmet said, "Let the one who loves me follow me!" He got on his horse and set off for the north. And when he reached Edirne, he ascended the throne for the second time.

Istanbul is the Prophet Muhammad's words, "Istanbul will definitely be conquered. What a great commander is the commander who conquered it. What a great army that conquered him." After the hadith, it became known as an important city to be conquered for the Islamic world as well.

When Sultan Mehmed II came to the throne, he had the Rumeli Fortress built in 1452, opposite the Anadolu Fortress, which was built by Sultan Yıldırım Bayezid, with the thought that the sea aid should be cut first for the conquest of Istanbul.
This fortress was intended to prevent aid from the Danube and the Black Sea. In order to demolish the high and thick walls of Istanbul, great cannons were poured into the important engineers of the period.
