On this great occasion of the successful completion of my computer project, I would like to thank my teacher Mrs. Preeti Sharma, for her valuable coordination and support for the remarkable results of my project. Also, I would like to take this opportunity to thank my family members & supporters, without them it could not have been done effectively in such a short period of time. I cannot forget their love & support.

It had been a few months since Shivaji Maharaj, The Great Maratha Leader, came to Agra. The Marathas and the Mughals who were constantly fighting signed a treaty. This put an end to the dispute between the two sides at least for the time being. The Mughal Commander, Maharaja Jai Singh had asked Shivaji to pay a visit to the Mughal.

But Jai Singh has assured me that I will be honoured like a king.
Then Shivaji left for Agra with his youg son Sambhaji.
Maharaja, This is a trap, we can't trust Aurangzeb !

When they reached the court, Shivaji greeted Aurangzeb.

He was then led to his allocated place which was in the third row of Nobles.

In those days, people were assigned places in the court according to their ranks. Shivaji was enraged. He had been assured that he would be respected like a king. He stormed out of court in rage.

Everyone in the court was shocked. No one dared to defy the Mughal emperor the way the brave Maratha had done! Aurangzeb commanded that Shivaji be detained in Agra.
How dare he defy me? Detain him.

Guards were placed outside the house where Shivaji was put up. No one was allowed in or out without thorough inspection

Shivaji thought of different ways to escape.
How can we get out of here?
I think I have an idea!

Then Shivaji spread news that he had fallen ill. He wanted prayers to be held by the priests in Agra for his recovery. He started sending out large baskets of sweets for them. It was these baskets that the guards were checking outside the house.

A few weeks went by. Eventually the guards got so used to the baskets of sweets leaving Shivaji's place they would simply wave them out.

This was the moment Shivaji was waiting for. One day Sambhaji and he climbed into the baskets, which were then covered with sweets. As the men came to the door carrying the two baskets, the guards waved them out.
