Lots of people were affected by the tsunami because 450,000 people ended up homeless and 15,500 people died. It also impacted the people because during the tsunami the waves hit the citizens homes and they were demolished by the fast and powerful waves. their homelands they knew were just basic mud and a big wreak and disaster. As a result of the damage that the tsunami did taxes were increasing so they could repair the roads, buildings and the power plants.
The tsunami also damaged the three main nuclear power plants in Japan. As a result Japan's electricity sources were destroyed. The nuclear power plants released toxic and radioactive materials in to the environment and caused people to evacuate their homes. There task was to prevent radioactive materials, particularly in contaminated water leaked from the three power plants. This task became big in August 2013.
There have been no deaths or cases of radiation sickness from the nuclear accident, but over 100,000 people were evacuated from their homes as a result of the accident.
