I dedicate this book to my future students <3

It was just midnight as Lola and her family entered the city and passed the local New York pizzeria. They had been driving since early that morning. As Lola awoke from a nap her mother said, "I know this is a lot different from the small town we are used to, but we will start a new life here and your father's new job is very important. We will love it here in no time. "

Lola had a rough night, as she feared her first day at her new school. As the morning rose, it was time for her to get up & get ready for the day. She wondered what she should wear or if anyone would offer to be her friend. Lola's stomach began to ache as the time grew closer.

After Lola was ready for her first day, she jumped in the car with her mother and they headed to her new school. Lola said to her mother, "Do you think they will be kind to me mother?" Lola's mother responded, "Sometimes children can be unkind, but it is important to always treat them how you want to be treated." This made Lola nervous but she knew her mother would always be there for her!
Once Lola had gotten to school, she got out of the car and headed into her new classroom. As she entered, all the children stared in silence. As Lola walked towards her seat, her teacher Mrs. Nelson said, " Class, please welcome our new student Lola."

As Lola took her seat she waved at her new classmates. Lola was feeling nervous with a tummy full of butterfly's. She feared no one would want to be her friend. As the day went by, nobody said a word to Lola and at recess she played all alone.

As the end of the school day approached, Lola could not wait to go home. She watched the clock tick hour by hour.

As Lola and her mother drove home from school, Lola told her mother about her awful first day at school. Lola's mother assured her things would get better and that it would just take some time.

As the days went by and the weeks passed, Lola was still lonely. She still had made no new friends and now a boy in her class was making fun of her. "What kind of name is Lola" the boy who sat behind Lola shouted. "Can I call you Lola the Lollipop?" he followed up with. The whole class began to chuckle except for Lola and one other girl in the class.
