I'm in the state finals Making mistakes that are costing me the match. I am letting the other kid dictate the match, and I've always been taught to wrestle your match.
I take a bad shot, he Sprawls and he spins behind then scores. I try a move from bottom and he catches me on my back, he gets another 2 points the score is now 4-0.

The period ends and he picks bottom, he stands up and escapes and I'm down 5-0. I take a shot and take him down and I put him right to his back.

I'm down 5-4 now, and the match is coming to an end. I attempt to turn him again and got him to his back but the referee doesn't give me my points, and the match ends and I ended up losing 5-4.

When I stepped up on the podium, I felt so mad that I didn't win, but I knew that this gave me a fire burn in my stomach to go back and work so much harder throughout this next year.

Wrestling to me isn't a sport to me it's more of a lifestyle. I started to train at practice so much harder, and my goal every night was to be the hardest-working person in that wrestling room.

I worked all through the next year and the tournament to make it to states comes up. I feel great going into this tournament and I go through the tournament and I'm in the finals. I win that and I'm onto the states.

I knew I would go out and do something great. I had a burn in my stomach from the year before. I go down to the tournament, and it's about a five-hour drive. I was hungry but I had to go weigh in.

I make weight and go eat and then go to the hotel then go to sleep. I wake up in the morning, and I feel great I wrestle my first match and win.

I was in a great spot to win states. I went out to my next match and pinned that kid too, and I was onto the next day I was in the semis finals. If I won this one, I would make it to the finals, and I knew in my heart that I would get back into the finals.

I go out, and we go through the first period scoreless, and we go into the second period, and he picks down, and I got called for locking hands, and I was down now 1-0, and then he hit a switch on me and reversed me he rode me out for the rest of the period.

Then I turn into him and put a position on him and pin him. Now I am in the finals. The finals are later that day, so I eat good food to give me fuel, and I feel great.
