I woke up in my room with excitement in my chest, and I felt like I could burst with happiness.

Today was finally here - my sweet 16th birthday party!

Yay!!!

Before going to the waterpark, I got ready to pick up my family and friends, who waited at their houses for me. Hopefully, the waterpark will be ready for us.

Very soon after I got up, my mom and I hopped in the car to pick up my friends. Our first destination was Ashley's house, who didn't live too far away.

The next stop was Chloe's house. When we arrived, she had countless luggage to pack into our car. We still had one more person to pick up. Space became an issue very quickly! Our car was as crowded as a busy schoolyard at recess.

Luckily, my grandma expected this and drove to the waterpark in her car. We arranged to meet at my cousin's house, our final stop. We stuffed all the bags into Grandma's car at her house.

Finally, we arrived at my cousin Maya's house after a few bumps in the road. She joined us in the car, and we went to the waterpark. We enjoyed the car ride for the first hour.

My friends and I played a few car games and caught up since we hadn't been together for a long time. 

How have you been?! I haven't seen you guys in soooo long!!

Suddenly, the car gave us a warning sound: BEEP BEEP! The car had barely any gas left in the tank! A gas station could not be seen for many miles, so we risked the drive. With our luck, we ran out of gas in the middle of the highway.

BEEP BEEP

My mom immediately called for help, and it took them an hour to refill our gas tank. That gave us a lot less time to spend in the waterpark. But my friends cheered me up and made the waiting entertaining. We returned to the road to arrive at the waterpark just a bit later.

My mom checked us in, and we piled all our bags into our sleeping headquarters. When I stepped through the double doors, I was in awe. I've never seen such a big room - it was like stepping into a palace! Nothing could go wrong.

After we settled into the room, we started preparing for our trip down to the waterpark. We got our bathing suits on and waited in the line that led us into the park. The line was almost as long as a line to wait for a popular ice cream truck. It probably took 30 minutes to get in.

But, the wait was worth it as soon as you saw the views of the rides. We heard "SPLASH!" and "WOOSH!" Immediately, we all bolted to the giant slide - it had twists of red and white. The slide was a snake wrapping around other nearby slides.

When we got there, the line of people was so long. It steered down to the stairs' entrance leading up to the slide. I started to get worried we wouldn't have as much time as we liked for the slides. But my friends reassured me everything would be fine. We had a good time waiting because of them.

We gossiped and giggled with each other, which was probably one of the best moments on the trip. They finally got our float ready and sent us down the slide. We squealed, "AHHH!" until it was over. That was the best ride I've ever been on.

That night after we were done with the waterpark, my friends and I gathered in the living room. We played Uno and other games until we heard a knock on the door. My mom answered, and I listened to a low, grumpy growl.

I marched over to see who it was. A man in a security uniform was perched outside our room. The thing he told us next changed the whole night, and I will never forget what happened.

"You need to leave now!" the guard said. One of the families in the rooms above us had caused damage to a pipe that could burst any second! We packed up all our things as quickly as possible and hurried downstairs! I could've sworn I heard a "CREAK!" before we left.
