Entry N.1
Disbelief. Not only disbelief but also just utter confusion. The renowned homeless man, Moise the Beatle, appears to have returned to Sighet and at this point he has done nothing but babble nonsense. He provides to all us citizens stories of his said dreadful journey, noting deportees, labor, death, etc. He protests towards the idea that us Jews should begin to evacuate for we inevitably shall succumb to the German Gestapos. The mere thought of what he rants is rather undoubtedly far fetched. The old man must possibly not be within his right mind, surely he must not be. What's more is that my son Elizer pities him to such an extent. He often sits with him, solemnly intaking the concerns of the old man although shedding no belief in what he claims. By god, the man really has to be insane. For us, to flee our humble homes in Sighet, just from the mere instruction of some man that doesn’t hold much to the current location that he is in is pretty absurd to all of us citizens. But let me shed no distress to this idea. There are far more important matters that I need to atone to.
Moishe The Beadle

Entry N.2
Mar, 10 1944
Rejoice. Splendid news has come in which has proved to undoubtedly result in the defeat of Germany. The people have been saying, “The Red Army is advancing with giant strides… Hitler will not be able to harm us, even if he wants to…”. We all doubt Hitlers resolve to exterminate us. We diminish ideas about future harm against us. We continue now to indulge ourselves in other matters, not accounting our fates. Oh as I can recall my son had asked me to do something. What was it? Oh, I’ve recalled Elizer had provided intel about the possibility of buying emigration certificates to Palestine. He was insisting to me to sell everything, to liquidate, and to leave. But I had to deny him. For I am an old man, too old to commence a novelle beginning in a distant land. But what would be the trouble in not doing so? There certainly is no need. We are all illuminated in the circumstances regarding Germany. We shall be fine.
An update: It's said that German troops have penetrated Hungarian territory with the government’s approval. The jews within the community have begun to worry, as have I. Still, I must remain calm. There is no possible way that the Germans will come this far to Sighet, it's just not possible.
In just three days German vehicles have just made an appearance on our streets.
