How climate change contributes to drought:
Warmer winter temperatures are causing less precipitation to fall as snow.
Decreased snowpack can be a problem, even if the total annual precipitation remains the same.
Climate change is making certain regions drier.

Climate change is increasing the severity and frequency of climate-related extreme weather events around the globe, from hurricanes, to droughts, heat waves, wildfires and more.
Climate change is causing the weather around the world to get more extreme, and scientists are increasingly able to pinpoint exactly how the weather is changing as the Earth heats up.
Climate change affects hurricanes, for instance, in many ways, from changing the temperature of the air and the water, to potentially affecting wind patterns and ocean currents. .
The connection between weather and climate change has never been clearer. And simultaneous extremes, such as hot and dry weather together, are particularly dangerous.

Like other extreme weather disasters, flooding involves a number of competing factors that may affect its frequency and intensity
Large flood events can damage homes, roads, bridges, and other infrastructure; wipe out farmers’ crops; and harm or displace people. Although regular flooding helps to maintain the nutrient balance of soils in the flood plain, larger or more frequent floods could disrupt ecosystems by displacing aquatic life, impairing water quality, and increasing soil erosion.
