What was the first language you learned to speak?

Hi! My name is Oliver Owl. The first Language I learned to speak is English.

I mostly read and write in English too.

I speak English with my family and most of my friends.

I speak English everyday at school, at home, and in my community!

How often do you speak English? Where do you speak English?

I also speak French, but it is hard sometimes. I can only have simple conversations in French. I'm trying to get better!

I can read signs, menus, and simple things in French, but I cannot read books yet.

I can say hello in Ukrainian and ask where is the bathroom. I cannot read or write Ukrainian. I can read Arabic, but cannot speak or write it.

Sometimes I'm scared to use new languages. Sometimes I'm shy. But I try anyways! I want to improve so I'll be brave!

How do you feel when you are using a different language? Is there anything you would like to communicate better about?

I'm excited to learn new languages! It can be hard, but I'm up for the challenge.

What are some things that make it hard for you to learn and practice a new language?

Owls are known for being smart, so we spend a lot of time in school! We learn to be very quiet and to hunt mice. We also learn to hoot! Other animals learn very differently.
