Rays of the sun were shining through the clouds while the crashing noises of waves were splashing into each other. Sarah had been living on a boat with her family ever since she was born. Her parents love to explore the ocean and all of its features and animals that come with it.

Unfortunately, Sarah's parents forbade her from having any contact with the outside world and she had no one to talk to. To fulfill her days, she enjoyed reading and writing in her notebook. Most days Sarah would write about the new creatures she encountered on the water.

Other days, she would write about her feelings and how alone she felt in her life without the help of a friend. She never understood why her parents didn't want her to have contact with anyone else. Every time she asked, her mother would always disregard her question. Tonight she was determined to find out the reasoning behind her parents controlling thought.

That night, Sarah went back and forth in her head about how she would successfully get an explanation from her parents. Sarah decided to only talk to her mother because she felt that maybe if one parent says yes to an explanation, then they could convince the other parent. She helped her mom with the dishes and cleaned up the table to hopefully make her in a better mood after dinner.

"Mom can I talk to you about something?" Sarah said.
"Sure." Her mother said.
"I know you don't like me asking about it, but I need an explanation as to why I can't have contact with anyone, or why we never go on land to meet people. I just don't understand." Sarah said with certainty.
"Sarah I'm tired of having this constant conversation with you. The world is not a safe place. Your father and I just want to keep you safe." Her mother said.

"I don't believe you. I'm sad and alone and need someone to talk to besides you and Dad. I can't live like this any longer." Sarah sad.
That was the last thing Sarah said to her mom before she stormed off to her room in disbelief. She felt that nothing she did would convince her parents for an explanation.

Before Sarah went to bed, she went into her parents room to get her bracelet she left in her mom's jewelry box. As she opened the drawer of the jewelry box, she noticed a folded piece of paper hidden in the corner. She unraveled it and couldn't believe what she saw. It was a missing persons flyer with Sarah's full name on it. The flyer was a baby so she didn't understand. It had the names of who to contact if anyone found her.

They were names she hadn't recognized. Sarah looked at the paper with confusion wondering if this was actually her. As she searched through the box, she found a whole drawer filled with more "Missing" flyers. She couldn't believe it. Her whole life had been a lie. This is why she wasn't allowed to have any contact with people besides her family. All of the dots were starting to connect. She had to get out of there immediately.
