His leadership and strive to a peaceful protest to end the racial injustice in America changed the world. In this book, we will take a look into his life and the accomplishments he did as well as the set backs he had. MLK is a very powerful figure in the American Civil Rights Movement.
In the beginning…….
Martin Luther King Jr was born January 15, 1929 in Atlanta Georgia. He had two siblings and was the son of a pastor.
King went to Young Street Elementary school; a school for black children. It was very infusing for him as a little boy to go to a black school, but be friends with his white neighbor.
His motivation to be a civil rights activist was from his father, who showed King from a young age that their color on their skin did not determine their worth, and they were to be seen as human.
In middle school, King joined the Newspaper delivery station for the Atlanta Journal.
The high school that King went to was an all black school named after Booker T. Washington, which sparked his drive for equality in America. He began to public speak , and joined the debate team

College years for king….
King wen to an all male black college, Morehouse College. He went at the young age of 15 years old due to the demand of the school to have students enrolled because WW|| was going on causing many men to join the military.
During Martin Luther King Jr’s time at Morehouse, he joined the ministry and credits his studies to Benjamin Mays, for being his mentor and motivator during that time in life.
King graduated Morehouse College in 1948 at the young age of nineteen with a Bachelors of Arts in sociology.

After graduating from college, King joined the Birmingham African- American committee. Two incidences happened, one in March of 1955 where a fifteen year old black girl refused to giver up her seat on the bus to a white man, as well as in December of 1955 where Rosa Parks was arrested for violation of the Jim Crow Laws and was arrested for not giving up her seat on the city bus.
These two incidences lead King to lead a boycott of the Montgomery busses. This lasted for only a year, and cause lots of upset people, even taking it to the extreme to bomb Kings house.
Many white people were trying everything they could to bring MLK down, including arresting him for traveling 5 miles per hour over the speed limit.
This boycott ended when the United States District Court ruled Browder v Gayle that refused racial segregation on the Montgomery Public busses.
As a result of this movement, King gained recognition for Civil rights and advocating for Black Americans.
