Chosen model of innovation:
Augmented Reality






I have chosen augmented reality as my innovation because it will allow my students to visually connect with the cultural information presented in this lesson. As we talk about a city that no longer exists, students will be able to view a 3D reconstruction of the city of Tenochtitlán and will be able to compare it side-by-side with Mexico City, which was built on top of its ruins. This will allow them to experience the city and its history in a way that is not possible in the real world.

In this unit, students learn about Mexico. This includes basic information about the country, some of its customs and traditions, and a brief history of the Aztec empire and the founding of its capital, Tenochtitlán. This history ties into the symbolism of the Mexican flag.
Project/Lesson Objectives






--Given previous vocabulary, students will interpret oral and written information about the founding of Tenochtitlán with 90% accuracy.
--Given previous information, students will analyze information from a 3D reconstruction of Tenochtitlán with 90% accuracy.
--Given side-by-side pictures, students will reflect on the structure of Tenochtitlán and how the structure of Mexico City differs with 85% accuracy.
