I Used to Think...

Before beginning the certificate program, I thought I used a fair amount of technology in my classroom. I was good with a Promethean board, and my students used technology to complete assignments.

Now I Think

After completing IDT 7061, I now think that technology is so much more than I realized! There are a lot of tools that I wasn't aware of and now I know how to use them. I can say that I am able to truly integrate technology now in ways I was not able to before. I also think technology is even more important and useful than I realized.

I Used to Think

Before taking 7062, I used to think that lesson plans didn't have to have all the detailed information about the objectives and connections. I knew that these things were important, but I didn't think we had to include all the information that goes into the background of the lesson rationale.

Now I Think

After completing 7062, now I think the rationale, objectives, and standards are vital parts to the lesson plan. Having to think through these details and actually write them down really does help understand what we want to accomplish as teachers in the lesson. I now know what the ABCD format really is and how it connects to the lesson and standards. I have an understanding of what 21st Century Skills are and how it is important to include them in lesson planning to ensure we are preparing students for the future.

I used to think "Think, Pair, Share" was some gimmicky activity that was supposed to be some awesome strategy for student engagement. It was something that we heard over and over again at PD, and I thought it was something that could be useful but that would get old quick.
