ABOUT ME
My educational path has been significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has pushed me into a new era where Zoom meetings are the standard for learning. With the increasing cost of traditional classrooms, this digital platform served as a vital channel that kept students and teachers connected in the face of unsolvable problems. I was personally impacted by the sudden shift and had to navigate the strange world of online learning. Zoom's tiny interfaces became my new gateway to information, allowing me to engage, if only digitally, with students and teachers. This innovative learning environment used screen sharing and the rhythm of silence and unmuting to emphasize the value of flexibility and resilience.
In the meantime, Zoom meetings have emerged as a symbol of the flexibility and resilience of our educational system. These virtual gatherings, in spite of the pandemic's enforced physical distance, represented a shared commitment to learning in the face of difficulty rather than merely a digital interface. The screen's imprecise faces, each struggling with the difficulties of online learning, provide as an important reminder that knowledge gain never gives up even in the face of adversity. Zoom reflects the spirit of our learning community in digital form, demonstrating that our shared goal of education can triumph over external obstacles even in an environment of disruptions.

THE IMPACT
Exactly a year ago, the COVID-19
pandemic brought learning to a screeching
halt worldwide, creating the most severe
global education disruption in history. At
the peak of the crisis, UNESCO data
showed that over 1.6 billion learners in
more than 190 countries were out of
school. Over 100 million teachers and school personnel were impacted by the sudden closures of learning institutions. Today, half of the world’s student population (more than 800 million learners) is still affected by full or partial school closures. In 29 countries, schools remain fully closed.

The pandemic has exposed and deepened pre-existing education inequalities that were never adequately addressed. As always, it has impacted vulnerable and marginalized learners the hardest. The economic downturn of the crisis is now adding pressure on national education budgets and aid at a time when increased funding is needed for education recovery. Despite critical additional funding needs, two-thirds of low- and lower-middle-income countries have cut their public education budgets since the start of the pandemic, according to a recent joint report by the World Bank and UNESCO.

ZOOM
Zoom has become an indispensable part of my educational journey. An adaptable platform for taking online classes, working on group projects, and communicating with teachers and other students. This technology has made it easy to transition to online learning, participate actively in real-time class discussions, collaborate effectively with others on projects using breakout rooms, and engage with the learning community.
